No Cliff Richard style name and shame and helicopter over the house then? The luxury of being an MP. One rule for them, one for the rest.

I am of the opinion that no-one who is accused of rape should be named until found guilty.

Quite so, lives have been ruined by false allegations.

Why is it odd? Could well have been a young intern or someone who needed a job and was scared of someone in a position of power. These things happen quite often in the real world.

What is important is that it has been reported and can be investigated properly. Not prejudging the outcome.

Of course but this is not an historic allegation it happened last year post #Metoo and post the HOP own rule changes because of various internal complaints.

I have no knowledge I just thought it odd that this person didn't speak up after the first time. Anyway if this goes to trial no doubt we will find out why.

I do wonder if this is linked to the issues in the commons where an enquiry has been launched into a culture of bullying and inappropriate behaviour across the Palace of Westminster?

If some of the stories are true it does seem that some people's behaviour was out of order. Not surprising when you look at the way our elected representatives act in the house. Worse than a bunch of badly behaved children. Still with the theatres shut it will be the 9nly pantomime behaviour we get this year.

The worrying thing is that enquiry has been completed under Bercow and changes were made to help staff report bullying and harassment. If that is the case then it hasn't worked as clearly this person did not feel they could report it after the first incident.

If I was the new Speaker I would be very worried about this.

Yes and that is why he retains the whip.

Tricky one this, I suspect that most major corporations would suspend someone on full pay whilst the police investigated.

However he is innocent until proven guilty and unlike a normal employee is elected to represent the people of his constituency, why should they be denied representation in Parliament?

The issue with all these allegations is the length of time the police take to investigate quite often it's a year and then what suppose the police find the allegations are without foundation it mean an elected official has been unable to do their job for that period.

You do wonder what exactly the police are doing all this time. Somebody makes an allegation if I was investigating I would firstly check the basics such as date and times where and when were their any witness's before, after or during the alleged attack. Is there any CCTV that would at least establish that people were where they said they were, check phones and social media interview co-workers and friends.

I would have thought that 2 detectives would have been able to do all that and prepare a report within several weeks?

I know it has nothing to do with ex CONservative mp charlie elphick, or his poor wife, sitting CONservative mp for Dover, she is getting rid apparently, and i doubt it has anything to do with Crispin odey, one of Britain"s highest profile hedge fund managers and , one of Boris Johnsons backers, that was only an indecent assault charge, so i wonder which CONervative ex cabinet mp was the alleged rapist? I wonder do public schools have an entitlement course? It seems that a lot of these CONservatives would pass with flying colours!

According to the tabloids the MP was in a sexual relationship with his accuser.
