I think for a while he was a vagrant in the Twickenham area, certainly in the early 1990's. According to Cat Stevens, PG accumulated wealth quite early on in his career, then gave all his money to charity and disappeared from the public eye,

Sad news

Very sad to hear this news. I saw Fleetwood Mac just the once when they played one of the very early free concerts in Hyde Parl in 1968. It always amazed me how the early hardcore blues Mac transformed into the mega successful middle of the road rock outfit of the 70s.

A friend of mine said "Fleetwod Mac were great until the girls joined, and they ruined it". However, that was also the point they started making shed-loads of money

I saw the original band in what they called their last gig as a blues band. This was at the Toby Jug in Tolworth and they had several guests from the blues scene of the time; John Mayall and Keef Hartley are the only two I can remember. It was a terrific gig by a terrific band.
BB King mentioned Peter Green as one of his favourites.

The success of the resurgent Fleetwood Mac in the mid 70s was 100% down to Lindsey Buckingham and, by extension, Stevie Nicks who, between them, wrote more than half of the album Rumours.

Mick Fleetwood and John McVie not only sacked Peter Green but then went on to boot out Lindsey Buckingham as well. Talk about biting the hand that feeds. They come across as a right pair of tw@s.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Stevie needs Lindsey for the Chain or the song doesn't work, and had forgotten how good Peter Green's guitar was.

Possibly Stevie Nicks, but Christine McVie ( or Perfect as she once was was) had a similar musical background to Peter Green and the rest of Fleetwood Mac, being a member of Chicken Shack, very much a blues based outfit.
