Mott were going nowhere until Bowie gave them ' All The Young Dudes '....I thought they were decent enough but I didn't bother seeing them back in the day. Uriah Heep I saw at the Fairfield Halls in '73, mainly because I liked the support band for that tour, Silverhead. About a year after that I was invited to see Heep record a video at Shepperton Studios - they were nice guys and pretty decent musicians too, but I never warmed to their stuff.

I give the award of Best Song Ever to be Ruined by Rubbish Bit award to Mott for Roll Away the Stone. What were they thinking when they tacked on to an iconic, classic pop song that feck awful "rockabilly party" talking section? Second prize goes to Slade where Noddy proved that he could sing a bl00dy good song in the verses of Everyday... and then panicked and Noddy-yelled the chorus. Silly boy.
