Think I was at that game. Was it Rogers first game? I don't recall me thinking about our new player scoring on his debut so I doubt if this was his first game for the club. Edited by Willo (15 Apr 2020 9.14pm)

I have a recollection of attending a game at Aldershot's recreation ground in the 70s.I recall that behind one of the goals there was no terracing or stand. For some reason I seemed to remember a player called John Love ploughing his furrow for us.He had been signed from Staines Town and this might have been his first game in our colours hence why he attracted my attention.I don't think he played many games for us. At Aldershot I have a vague memory of our supporters, in the stand behind the goal, walking across the pitch to the exit near the far goal at the end of the game but this might have been in a friendly at the ground. All very vague - perhaps I have dreamt this! I recall season 1973-74 under Malcolm Allison. We had been relegated from the old 'Division One' the previous season and we started 73-74 with a 4-1 home defeat to Notts Co. We never won until November when a Whittle goal secured a 1-0 win at Bristol C in our 16th game.Relegated again! Edited by Willo (16 Apr 2020 12.04am)

The other end, indeed had no terracing and was just a wire fence to stop the ball disappearing. Can’t help about John Love I’m afraid

I was there for that, ran from halfway line I believe. Have it in the back of my mind watching a player make his debut at Ixford one season, was it Peter Taylor? May just be my mind going of course

May just be my mind going of course Yes, me too. Don’t remember Taylor’s debut but it’s a shame we couldn’t see much of the two together. I do remember there was some muttering about Rogers not doing much until he scored when tunes changed abruptly. Didn’t he have a long standing injury weakness, possibly a hip injury, which stopped him tackling? Regardless he was, and still is, my favourite player.

May just be my mind going of course Thinking back, I do believe now it was Peter Taylor's debut.Memories are bit of a blur due to an amalgam of attending the match on the back of a few 'Tinctures' and the passage of time since the 70s! I have scant recollection of our team that day! I attended away games at Colchester in the evening at Layer Road, At Walsall at their old ground Fellows Park, at Coventry at the old Highfield Road etc but alas cannot recall the scores and I have scant memories of the games!!!! Many good memories not always good results though

One of my all time favourites as well. Man Utd at home superb

Many good memories not always good results though I am unsure whether the Camb Utd game was a cup-tie or not.I recall big Dave Cox being on the coach and I think there was a quiz on the way back.
