Forest Hillbilly Flag in a hidey-hole 18 Mar 20 5.15pm Send a Private Message to Forest Hillbilly Add Forest Hillbilly as a friend

In the early 1980's my brother and a couple of mates were drinking in a pub just outside Woking.
A bloke walks in, and one of my brothers mates says "Excuse me, are you Fergal Sharkey ?"
The man blushes a bit and says, "actually, yes I am Fergal Sharkey"

My brother's mate t***ted him and they all legged-it.

Saw this one a while ago.
A school was putting on a show of some kind but had a problem with the speakers not working. One of the kids said my dad knows about this sort of thing and gave him a ring. In due course a grey haired gent turned up and fixed whatever was wrong.
Jimmy Page saved the day.

Another slightly related.
A friend’s sister is an actress and was appearing in a play touring the north of Scotland. Playing a church hall in front of about 100 people she noticed a striking looking man in the front row who turned out to be Robert Plant.

A neighbour of mine (J) went to school in Hurst Green, along with Anthony Banks. (must have been early 60's, I think)
Tony was putting on a musical show at the local village hall. J said she could play 3 chords of a guitar, so auditioned.
Mid-way through audition, Tony took the guitar off her and told her she could dance at the side of the stage and wasn't going to get the guitar back.

Was this the first departure from Genesis ?

When Bonn Scott died through drink around 1979 AC/DC needed a new singer one of them remembered seeing a singer with an early 1970s band called Geordie who had a huge voice when they saw him on stage he went into spazams and rolled around the floor on stage jerking and screaming. The crowd went crazy his name was Brian Johnson and he got the gig as the new singer. Years later Brian revealed that night AC/DC saw him he had a burst appendix and was in complete agony.

One of the owners of the house Bon came out of (Bon died in his car parked outside the house), they've put a copy-cat Blue Plaque by the porch.

And Status Quo came from Forest Hill. They used to practice and do gigs in the Territorial Army hall close to the Horniman museum, and about half a mile from Bon Scott's Blue Plaque house

My wife's granddad worked nights on the print in the 60's/70's and lived next door to Mud guitarist Rob Davis's family. He used to call him 'Twang' (I guess he was still learning at that point) and would bang on the walls to shut him up.

I guess had it worked we would never have had that perennial favourite Lonely This Christmas and the classic Tiger Feet.

Michael Bolton auditioned for Black Sabbath according to Tony Iommi.

Before Pete Best The Beatles had a drummer called Tommy Moore who left to go back to his job as a forklift driver at Garston bottle works.

Can't really imagine Michael Bolton biting the head off a bat and pi$$ing on the Alamo.

Quite. It’d be like Lemmy joining Take That.
