In those days there was also Concorde. No exaggeration to say that everything fell off tables and mantlepiece and you couldn't hear for a few seconds afterwards.

In the early days of Concorde I was working in the Whitgift Centre in Croydon. We also had an office in Esher and knew not to telephone them at 11:00am as that's when Concorde flew over and we could even hear the racket it made over the telephone lines

Boris is probably very please that H3 has been rejected by the courts. It does give him an opportunity to resurrect Boris Island as an idea.

His only real issue in all this is that any major new infrastructure projects will now need to conform to the court ruling which is going to hit road improvements significantly.

Unless of course the government makes changes to the climate act that the court based the ruling on.

Some critics have complained about the courts interfering however in this case I think they are correct. They are not inventing laws but making a decision based on an act of Parliament.

If Parliament doesn't like the decision they can always change the law.

Small potatoes compared to this wet dream of a perfect environment.

You do realise that large parts of the country are underwater, half of Australia is on fire and the polar caps in the north pole are melting at a faster rate than scientists feared?

Imagine the slap in the face it would be to the farmers in Shropshire if they saw one of the megaairports in London given a free pass to pump a load more CO2 in to the atmsophere.

If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4

What about the flooding in the 60s and 70s
The ice caps have increased 8 out of the last 10 years.
Australia is a hot country so fires are a consequence.
Part of that issue was arson and somewhat to do with no fire prevention.
Back burning etc.
Due to not wanting to burn and pollute the air.
In other hot countries they prepare for the worst.
Dont see those in flames.
In the west we blame everything but ourselves when the worst happens and we havent prepared.

Also building on natural flood plains might be part of the flooding issue you think!

Large parts of this country are undersea level and always have been.....I should know, I live in one of them....and we haven't been flooded since the fifties. The floods in the UK are the product of governmental under investment in defences......because the wealthy don't live there.

As for the rest of it, wildly exaggerated and not our problem.

The only things we have to worry about in Northern Europe are the gulf stream and the rocky mountains....and those mountains aren't going anywhere.

Fair enough points.

Still, I enjoyed my little rant.....and the leftists in the judiciary is very much a reality.

Do you mean that there is no link between flooding and the biblical weather we have been seeing? If so, that is not the view of the old farmers in Wales who say they have seen nothing anywhere near like it in all of their years.

Pretty hard to put in flood defenses on a Welsh mountain

Or maybe your point is that man-made climate change is not the most significant contributor to this new weather pattern that is showing no sign of abating.

Whatever, if I were you I would head for the hills. I fear that your nuclear/immigrant bunker may not be the best place when the deluge comes.

New weather pattern, exactly.

If you actually read my post properly you don't have to guess what my points were.

You can mock about bunkers but your favourite Cummings would disagree with you.....there's a very interesting section about it all on his blog.
