Benteke, Townsend, Sakho and Zaha costing us circa £25 million a year in wages, That’s without the likes of Tomkins, Meyer, PVA, Cahill, Schlupp and Luka, what were the stats the other day? The 20th highest wage bill in Europe apparently.

Hence the need for loans and Dundee United’s finest

I just cant understand that over the past few window, WE have pretty much spent nothing on new players, I know Roy is doing a fantastic job with the resources available to him, And on the same front Freedman is doing all he can, But I am sure he has been targeted only with finding loan players or players out of contract. Has the club been that mismanaged that over the past few years we are unable to sign any players? Surely that cant be the case with such a small squad?

We have an ageing squad with an average age of about 29 years, I just wish our leader would make some form of statement to at least give us an indication of why the lack of signings. I should imagine again this season Freedman with his shrewd loan deals and Roy with his trick of keeping us up will cloud the fact that the club has major mis-management problem, This season we have had the chance to become a mid table team, And that slowly seems to be slipping away, Surely with our injuries, Signings should of been a priority,

Sorry about the rant, But I am a frustrated supporter

No disrespect but do you really think SP is going to say "we can't sign anybody because we have spent too much on our wage structure in the past and have a number of players at the club on inflated wages". I share your frustration with the current (hopefully) situation but I do think everybody knows within the club that new signings are essential to the current squad but economics are preventing them.

One way or another I think we will sign at least one new fullback and another new forward player (winger or striker) with it seeming likely Wickham will leave on loan. Based on previous history Parish may well get excited and try and grab a last-minute bargain too, but probably fail. If the club can push on and grab a top 10 finish it would make us a lot more of an attractive proposition, which could add incentive for beefing up the squad even if only on a temporary basis through loans.

Not at all confident that we will make another signing, given Roy's comments on returning players from injury being better than new signings.
Parish probably is anxiously running down the clock until window closes next Friday in order to comply with our American owners instructions.
Other than Tosun, maybe just another loan or freebie signing due to budget restraints, lack of ambition and general satisfaction at our sitting on 30 points.

Or “why only 1 loan and 2 development squad signings”

Survival is not a foregone conclusion as a higher total than normal might be required to avoid the dreaded drop.

W.Ham went down in 2002-03 on 42 points. Not even 43 pts would have been enough as Bolton in 17th attained 44 pts.Having perused the table that season and compared it with the current table at this juncture (Teams from 11th to 17th)I discovered the following :

2019-20: 2002-03 :

11th - 30 pts 11th - 33 pts
12th - 30 pts 12th - 31 pts
13th - 30 pts 13th - 30 pts
14th - 30 pts 14th - 29 pts
15th - 25 pts 15th - 27 pts
16th - 25 pts 16th - 26 pts
17th - 23 pts 17th - 21 pts
18th - 23 pts 18th - 19 pts
19th - 23 pts 19th - 19 pts
20th - 17 pts 20th - 17 pts

But the bottom three that year stayed in the bottom three despite West Ham’s resurgence.

We have signed Tosun but according to Sky and other outlets,PSV have bid £4.2 m for PVA!!
If sold, does this mean one in,one out,I wonder.
