Being able to watch a whole series in a night is killing normal tv. The crap that terrestial TV are putting out has a lot to do with it. Take Doctor Who as an example. They may have wonderful CGI nowadays but the series isn't a patch on the old days and it isn't just me looking at the past through rose coloured glasses as my young son isn't that bothered about watching it either

3 - 2 - 1 with Dusty Bin - now that's great telly!

I think the quality of content/ series/ programmes available to watch is at an all time high. So much good stuff out there. But the way it's consumed has obviously completely changed - and this kills the majority of any sense of a 'communal watch'... did you see xyz last night etc. That's the only downside I feel - which is a big one at that.

I'm sorry folks but TV is of a higher quality than ever if you want to find it. I like the ability to watch multiple episodes of a show and if you want to watch it one week at a time you can still do that too. Sure you have classic comedy from days gone by like Porridge and Fawlty Towers and the odd drama series that has stood the test of time but most of it was crap in hindsight.

The other advantage we have is that all the old programmes are still available.

While we've lost a little anticipation, I grant you, if on-demand means there's now zero inclination to ever watch Big Break or You Rand M'lord, it's tough to see past the positives.
