The problem with 4K DVDs is the price as they are about £25 each

Netflix have programming in 4K which is far superior to that offered on Sky as the sound quality is better as it's not so compressed. The problem with sound quality on Sky is that they would rather use their bandwidth to cram in more channels rather than increases the quality of the broadcast.

By the time 8K is affordable my eyesight will probably only be operating at 1K levels so my current TV will probably be my last one - unless it breaks

The solution.....(?)

Interesting concept but I will only be interested when the major content providers participate. If it's YouTube style content that has limited appeal to me.

Still at least they are having a go who knows!

It's far from Youtube etc, it's way bigger than that.
Samsung are one of Theta's main backers.
They appear to be taking this 'quite' seriously.

To be fair to YouTube the content is incredible. It’s not just blokes getting kicked up the bracket and cats falling off walls. There are thousands of documentaries, interviews and whole series of some good programmes.

Wow. I hope that it takes off as it could well have a lot of interest from people interested in sound quality.

I was a relative latecomer to Game of Thrones so bought the first series on DVD. The sound quality was dynamic and stunning whereas when I watched the remainder of the show on Sky the sound was relatively flat as is much of Sky's output

Me too.
Currently trading for pennies but the potential is enormous.
