You absolutely cannot sign proven experienced premier league players for 3 million. This is a good signing, despite the risk, because of the cost. It is not a "shocking signing" this is fanciful. Its not Neymar but again, it is 3 million pounds. He is 28 years old. Yes he has had injuries but calling him bang average is also pretty nonsensical. He is a well respected proven premier league footballer. I think you might think you support Barcelona, you dont. When Palace sign players like McCarthy, they aint bang average son, they are Palace average.

What f*cking use is premier league experience if it sits in the sick room all season. It’s a waste of money and time because we have pressing positions that need filling. On top of that I think he is absolutely average even before his injuries. Where is the long term vision in signing an injury prone player in his late 20s in a position that we already have Luka playing in with Kouyate as cover and several other midfielders who are capable of stepping up. Just because 3 million is cheap, doesn’t mean it’s not 3 million wasted. I know we aren’t Barcelona son, but I reserve the right to think this signing is like the Cahill one, short sighted and far below what we should be aiming for having finished a season with our record points tally and selling an academy graduate for 50 million.

Agree with Coulsdon. It’s £3m and £50k a week. That’s £15k more than Luka. 29 years old and a recent broken leg and played 7 games in 2 years.

He'll give the ball away, get into a lot of tackles because that's part of the job and thus increase his chances of getting injured. maybe score the odd long-range effort in a 2-2 draw with Burnley. you don't build a team around a guy like him. Roy had a boycrush on him for some reason for a while, and he finally got him. If he's sixth choice central mid, that's fine. But if he keeps Meyer on the bench, I'll have some intricate hand gestures for the bench and the president's lounge.

Coulsdoneagle I concur with the general thrust of these sentiments. Would just like to add that we sold an academy graduate for a sizeable sum,right-back is a key area which needs strengthening and 6 weeks after that sale we still haven't brought anyone in with the window closing in a couple of hours. Edited by Willo (08 Aug 2019 3.02pm) You like a good thrust, Willo. Some fans are never happy. I am the first to criticize Parish and have for years, but there is nothing wrong at all with this signing and time will prove me correct. People who slate a signing like this dont understand football to my money. Oh and you are bang on about a right back but dont forget Wardy can do a job there.

F*cking bang average and an absolute sick note. Waste of money. If I was Wilf I would want to leave as well based on our busiest far in the window. Sick note for Everton bit I agree with but not bang average.. nearly every Everton supporter you speak to will tell you that IF he stays fit he is a quality player.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

This is the impression I get too from Everton fans. We'll have to see if he's still got the same level of mobility as he did in his prime. Absolutely awful signing video though - the club actually deleted it! Still floating about somewhere on the internet though.

People that are claiming it's 3m are wrong its a deal up to 8m so again we have gone and over paid. total for this window is around 11-12m if you include fees and add ons doesn't look like good business again.
