he would be too exciting and young, we don't do that around here. we'll probably bring in Danny Simpson on a free, three-year contract @70k/week. Another Premier League winner!

Bogle has played as a starter in the Championship, with strong, well appreciated performances and good figures for a right back: 2 goals and 10 assists in 4400 minutes (James doesn't even have this in youth level).

Reece James has just been loaned to a Championship club for last season and he got to play decently, but there's no guarantee he'll make it there in the long term. I've seen lot of players who came out of youth development and didn't cut it in League One or the Championship.

Reece is a promising player, I'd take him if he were free for the U21 squad. But Chelsea apparently value him at 30 million. 20 million, really?? If he doesn't impress in the Championship, they'll let him go on a free in 2 years.

On the other hand, Bogle is already a certainty and, at the very least, will have 10 years of football at second tier level or higher (most probably). And what would Derby charge for Bogle? 5 million max.

James is a miles better prospect - absolutely tore up the championship last season at first attempt; won every club award at Wigan and their fans describe him as one of the best players to ever play for the club. He’s not being loaned out this year because he’s second choice right back now and Zappacosta will move on.

Having said that, Bogle had a great season, and I’m fairly sure he’s a south-Londoner - would be a good acquisition.

Will cost a hell of a lot more than £5m though.

Reece James will only be second choice IF Zappacosta (who is a very good player) leaves. We'll see how that goes, I don't think he'll leave.

Reece James is currently recovering from an ankle surgery and is not expected to be available before the end of the month of August.

Maybe, we'll see. Conclusion for me: he's a good player. But 20 million for him?!?

Who pays that kind of money for a right back??

That’s the market now unfortunately - we’ve just benefited from selling AWB for £50m.

James is quality though; will have a serious career IMO.

The market also had Almamy Toure going from Monaco to Eintracht Frankfurt for 0.7 million, Mama Balde to Dijon of France for free (very similar to AWB), Josh Brenet from PSV to Hoffenheim for 3 million. Eli Dasa is out of contract with the Israeli champions and a very good right back.

Yo know I meant from teams like us, not Top 6 teams. Who pays that money for a right back? No one. Ever.

Leicester got 20 year old right back Justin James, similar player to Reece James and Bogle, for 6 million. What numbers are we talking about here?!

I would prefer Bogle to the Spurs kid. I don’t think Palace can be spending 20m on full backs. If they are proven at this level and ready for the 1st team then 15m max. If they need to be developed then we should be offering much less

You could potentially pick up two young right backs and see which one develops into the best player.
