Not a bad run out for us. Mainly youth players with a few seniors players thrown in for fitness. Tavares at RB looked good, got caught once but felt it was more the conditions than anything, as it chucked it down for about 5mins at the start of the game. Hobbs is as employed at LB (not sure if it was his natural position), but was solid, although not overly tested in first half. Woods at CB had a good game, took a heavy hit and was a little shaky afterwards and misplaced a pass or too. Good to see Sakho back and, although a touch rusty, looked his usual slightly erratic self! Riedewald was average yet solid, while Dreher had flashes of quality and hope he gets a chance this season. McGregor is a little way off the first team but has potential. Daly worked hard and linked well with Wickham occasionally but not sure it’s quite his position as he was playing on the left. Would love to see him turn good but has a hint of Gayle about him and may struggle for opportunities. Wickham shone for the first half and slightly drifted (probably due to tiredness) and missed a couple of chances as the game progressed. But lead the line well and could be like a new signing if he can stay fit. Pierrick was good. 2 goals is obviously a great return but slightly flattered him. Didn’t have a bad game by any stretch but didn’t blow me away either. Flanagan is a talent! Positive central midfielder who can move the ball about and Lokilo looked ok but didn’t have much time on the pitch. Edited by h.smith91 (31 Jul 2019 12.17am) Agree with this, although would not have attended had I know the line up, had something to do family wise which I missed ! Lokilo should have been given a chance already IMHO, then perhaps we might not be so stressed re Wilf.

Like others, I would probably have thought twice had I known it was £20 for the under 23s but it was a fun evening. Very impressed that others were able to report on the players. With no names on the shirts, I had no idea who most of them were.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Was a very good evening what a lovely club AFC are? Even got a free round as their card machines broke at half time. I thought Dreyer, McGregor, Flanegan and Pierrick all looked like they had something. Wickham looked a class apart for an hour too and Sakho had a cigar on. Unfortunately on that performance Daly, Wood and Innes looked well short for me and was about their level unfortunately.
