Palace's loss is Bromley's gain mate. I'm a historic season ticket holder and gave it up last season due to family commitments, work etc. Even if that frees up, the price is ridiculous especially when you work out the cost per win ratio. Chuck in the cost of travel (I appreciate that's not the club's concern) and I can't see myself going to any games this coming season and I've yet to renew the membership (probably won't). Similar to you, although the quality is shocking I'll probably do a couple of Oxford games with my mates as its local and cheaper.

This confusion and hassle over prices and various memberships is part of why I get a season ticket as I said above, I couldn’t be doing with the grief and expence of paying game by game

I think the OP made some excellent and valid points.....it's a working man's game and the working man with a family is going to struggle on Premiership prices. Personally I think the top tier players are paid far too much and I don't go with the 'what the market will bear' argument......there should be some form of wage cap. If you are 10 percent better than someone on twenty grand you shouldn't be paid 600 percent more or even higher....as can happen. I'd probably have a player transfer value system based upon statistics. But there you go....I would also advise streaming rather than skinting your family. A working man should be able to bring his young family to the game the same as back in the day without having to earn buckets. Edited by Stirlingsays (28 Jul 2019 4.35pm)

It really saddens me as I am a huge Palace fan to say I literally can no longer go and watch my club at the stadium I've loved going to my whole life because of the ridiculous prices for tickets. The club I love have became greedy. I know their will be smug people on here that have high earning jobs that will say "it's how much it costs to watch a premier league game these days" "stop moaning" etc etc. Well good for you for being able to afford it. It is no longer a working class game and is starting to attract more of the rich. I have a young family and this was the season I was really hoping to start getting my 5 year old daughter into football and take her down the Palace but even for a child its £25+ a ticket. What ever happened to twentys plenty? I used to enjoy going down Selhurst with mates and have memories of being a kid going with my old man. These were the days when the working man/woman could afford tickets for him and his family and a pint and a burger etc. I cant even afford a ticket anymore. I say this with a heavy heart, I wont be able to attend games at the club I love and will this season have to go and watch my local town (Bromley FC) in the conference league at £15 a ticket and that will sadly be the team my daughter grows up to watch. I will forever be a Palace fan but sadly my days of going to Palace have ended. Become a steward/ programme seller?
