If you were being blackmailed like this and you had been w&nking or whatever with a webcam on your laptop pointing at you and filming you unawares, then surely the smart thing to do would be to demand they have photo proof they will send to you?

If they did then at how much would they stop blackmailing you?

It's probably from the Nigerian doctor who wants to give me 13 million dollars😆😆😆

Had an email today from someone that knew one of my passwords, the one on here.
Saying that they wanted a payment in bitcoins as they had footage of me on my webcam banging one out on my laptop , and they would put it on the internet.
If they knew how chaotic my house was they’d know that a toilet lock, iPhone and earphones are needed, not sitting on the sofa on my laptop. Haven’t even got a webcam.
Weird that they had my password though, anyone else had one.

These emails are common, but it does suggest that you should update your passwords or have a different password for each site, or at least the important stuff.

It wasn't from here even though this site was hacked a year or two back.

I received the same email twice with a password that I use here but I stopped using elsewhere a few years ago but the email address was my business email address that I don't use here.

I believe the culprit to be LinkedIn which was hacked a few years ago as that was the right combination of email address and password for me.

For anyone thinking that they are safe and secure have a look here and prepare to be shocked [Link]

It seems to be an exception to the rule if a site isn't getting hacked nowadays!

Did they get hold of passwords? If so I guess there will have been some kind of automatic password reset so that accounts are secure?

Though it's of course good practice for people to change passwords now and again anyway, and use different ones across sites. Many people don't bother to though.

Was it announced that this site was hacked? I don't remember seeing any post regarding this.

I would have thought that the site was responsible enough to inform users that their accounts may have been compromised.

Users of this site should have been emailed or at least informed via the site, so that they can protect themselves from any implications arising from the data breach. There may even be a legal requirement to do so, depending on the type of breach.
