If you were being blackmailed like this and you had been w&nking or whatever with a webcam on your laptop pointing at you and filming you unawares, then surely the smart thing to do would be to demand they have photo proof they will send to you? If they did then at how much would they stop blackmailing you?

Did they get hold of passwords? If so I guess there will have been some kind of automatic password reset so that accounts are secure? Though it's of course good practice for people to change passwords now and again anyway, and use different ones across sites. Many people don't bother to though. I would have thought that the site was responsible enough to inform users that their accounts may have been compromised. Users of this site should have been emailed or at least informed via the site, so that they can protect themselves from any implications arising from the data breach. There may even be a legal requirement to do so, depending on the type of breach.
