Have you seen Benteke play in the past year or so?

We've sold AWB and haven't replaced him. Wilf wants to go. Our strikers couldn't score in a brothel. Our owners are trying to flog us. The season starts in two weeks and we haven't signed anyone. That's the bad news.

The good news is, things could be worse. I've just read the article below which comes from a time that was our lowest ebb, certainly in recent years, and it hit home how lucky we are. Remembering how awful I felt thinking we were going bust, it suddenly doesn't seem so bad 'only' having Christian Benteke up front as we start yet another season in the Prem.

Disclaimer: this post doesn't preclude me from moaning on other threads.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Yes things could always be worse but I kind of feel we really have to let go of the administration thing... I for one always did and still do like Jordan.. He let his heart rule his head but always wanted the best for us. He became chairman at something like 33 years old... Absolutely mental at the time.

It was what it was but we are nearly a decade down the line now... The time for being grateful, which we always will be needs to be at the back of people’s minds and we need to always look ahead.

Good post.

Can't disagree with any of this

There's no point dwelling in the past but it also doesn't hurt to put things in perspective once in a while.

In honesty I just stumbled across that article whilst doing research on something I'm writing on SJ, who I used to like a lot, and thought it was worth a reshare.

It is staggering to see how quickly we have come on as a club since then. If you'd told me in the days leading up to the takeover that we would spend 6 of the next 9 seasons in the Premier League or whatever it has been I would have laughed at you.

The irony in that article Is it mentions wolves who were in League 1 three years ago but after just one, yes ONE season in the Premier League have achieved more than we have in six years.

Oh and throw in for good measure that tonight they play European football.

This could’ve been us, through gritted teeth good luck to them though they deserve the plaudits they get as media darlings

Difference is their investment in the team. If they invest sums near the top bracket of teams then that is where they should be achieving, thereabouts.

They built a team in The Championship of international players, very underhandedly.

Didn't we play in Europe under Venables in the Goldberg fiasco saga?

Same here.

How gutting was it in 1991 when we all thought we were heading for Europe only to have the goal posts moved on us to accommodate the scousers
