Roy: "We really don't have any defenders to speak of".

That must be great reading for Kelly and Ward - who in most people's opinion acquitted themselves pretty well when they were called upon last season.

To be fair, Roy should have retired by now. He's too old for this.

Freedman & Parish, Will be desperately looking for free transfers of players that we can get on the cheap without paying out any money, As usual in recent times what an underwhelming window so far, And as always with Parish no comment or explanation of any of it. He only likes giving good news, I feel with the lack of signings in recent windows he should update us the people who pay his £700k salary and bonuses on our current situation

Steve Parish has enough on his plate with the Transfer Window, ownership etc etc etc etc.I don't see any other club Chairman/Owners updating supporters in the manner suggested.Sometimes no news is good news !

Not at Palace it isn't; "no news" here means exactly what it says on the tin.

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

On a positive note Kouyate has played centre half throughout the AFCON and they hardly conceded a goal.

Why worry? We had half a season without a left back, a while without a goalie and ages with no striker. We can do without a defence - why would we need one with our strength in attack and natural goalscorers such as Sorloth, Ayew, Wickham and Benteke? We can Pardew the opposition into submission. Europe here we come.

Did Roy Hodgson actually say that?
It is unbelievable if true.
As another has said it does our negotiating position no good at all and is discouraging to our present squad.
Never sell a key player without a replacement lined up. That's basic common sense.

Having seen the Young Boys game where we were outplayed (altho the manager didn't seem to think so)
I am getting seriously concerned about the new season.

Luzern were better than us too. At least, pre-season means little. But get beaten by Everton and Palace Talk will be the last refuge of the damned.

Could we combine Tomkins and Sakho into one and have at least one player fit to play an entire season ?

How can you replace AWB? Answer, You can't. Probably the best full back in the country and the pound signs win again. Add insult to injury, we sell him to those blood suckers MU who will uy any player who they think will be danger to them in matches. AWB is certainly that. Good luck to the lad though. He has precious little support around him. The usual Dann Thomkins Ward Kelly. Add to that no significant strikers. Benteke, Lazy useless waste of good money. Mayer, has he scored yet? OH ok, we'll rely on non strikers to get a goal or 2. Well my fellow supporters, here we go again. Another relegation battle to look forward to. It's just like the t*** Pardew era, sell Gayle because he didn't fit into his plans. One of the top scorers last year.

Surely if you combined them into one person you'd have someone with two injuries....

I have talked to an array of supporters and they are also of this mind.Only today I spoke to a supporter who is normally over-freighted with positivity about life in general but alas he was an ancient Elijah of doom about our prospects this coming season. Not a great deal of optimism to be found at the present time.

I don't suppose that it makes any difference whatsoever to our negotiating position. I doubt whether there is a club in England, if not Europe that isn't aware that we've sold our right back and they also know that we have had a big problem scoring goals
