if you want to talk about chairmen talking about stadiums with no substance please look at SJ selling re-united t-shirts when he told everybody we owned the ground again, when infact he had only got a hedge fund to buy it from noades and he owned diddily squat.

The hierarchy at CPFC have still not learnt a lesson since we became a Premier League club. Every transfer window we have struggled to bring in players to fill the positions we desperately need to address. This transfer window, if reports are to believed, we are looking at goalkeepers. Why??. It is obvious the club is in urgent need of a couple of strikers who have the navigational skills to find the net and a real quality midfielder who can assist them in achieving this.

You are spot on,other thanthe Sam inspired window which was the rare exception to the mediocrity we have endured ever since.

We were also well prepared in the summer under Pardew before getting into the top 5 and Jimmy plus one or so others getting injured about Christmas time and Pardew having no idea what to do.

Earl you days and perhaps I’m being harsh but we do seem to be shopping at bargain basement level without a coherent strategy.
We’re looking to sign Ayew presumably as some sort of insurance in case Benteke/Wickham do not recover form or fitness.
This is the same Ayew who featured heavily in the first half of last season when Roy bemoaned lack of options and he never looked a realistic goal threat.
Yes he runs around and works hard and we may get him ‘cheap’ but it’s a signing that lacks any spark or imagination.
If we let Speroni go to buy a young third keeper with potential fair enough.
Instead we buy a journeyman in his thirties.
We may as well have kept Speroni who has always had the club at heart, who clearly wanted to stay and has a huge bond with the fans.
To replace AWB we are linked with Clyne or Jenkinson, neither of whom have performed at a consistent level for a few seasons.
Perhaps I’m being unrealistic but our scouting seems as shambolic as when we were first promoted.

I’ve been critical of Palace’s scouting and transfer policy for some years now.

Events to date this summer have done nothing to change my thoughts.

However there is still plenty of time for the type of signings we hope for. So I’ll reserve final judgement until when the window closes.

With respect to Henderson and Ayew, I have to say the Henderson one is strange but then signing a ‘keeper that will only ever play in an emergency means you’re not going to pay a huge amount in wages. Jules was probably earning substantially more. With Ayew, ok he didn’t exactly pull up any trees last season but at £2.5m for an experienced PL forward I can see the attraction.

So let’s see - underwhelmed at present but hoping that will change

We haven't bought anyone yet? I may end up buying my dinner from Lidl, but right now there is that chance I could go to Waitrose. We won't find out until dinner time.

If rumours are true, we have made a few enquiries this week over players which wouldn't come cheap. Before we start complaining let's at least wait until the traditional day-after-the-window-shuts day to complain.

Luckily we won't have to endure the agony until the end of Aug this year.

Why is anyone suprised at the lack of decent signings at this point in the window. We must be the only prem club that has more 1st team goalkeepers than strikers.

Still dare not say to much against Parish otherwise the " dont you remember he saved the club" brigade will start.

O and our scouting system sucks.

When you say “our scouting system sucks” do you mean our Scottish super scout Doug”who can sniff out players that no one in their right mind would sign for huge amounts of money on the off chance they might come good?

The Sam window? Luka accepted, but 2 overpriced left backs, neither of whom can defend!!

Owners have given club quite a few loans over last few years - with Americans wanting out they may use the AWB money to repay their loans. Buying Ayew for £2.5m would indicate that money is tight

And/or they don’t want to spend much on a player who cost not much innloan fees only and is a backup player. We won’t be doing anything different on Ayew to what lots of sensible clubs do for backups at the bottom third of the Prem, money issues or not.

Surely the Pound Shop of the Premier League would be a cheap seller of players whereas this thread generally is about moaning about us buying players on the cheap.

Ergo the thread should be renamed: 'We are the pound shop shoppers of the Premier League'

Thank you.
