Sorry Reg, you have no understanding of the proposed extradition bill. I don't understand your comments about cross border travel. Anyway, huge crowds on the street demonstrating general unhappiness with direction of Hong Kong, sadly this is a process in motion and will not change direction The Hong Kong SAR is part of PRC, end of. I was in Hong Kong a couple of months ago and beautiful though it is, it's a powder keg. since China took control in 1997 there has been a steady drip of one-sided regulations including access into the old colony from the mainland but no equal right to go the other way (not that anyone would want to). The result is the most appalling overcrowding and unrest due to the forced mixing of very different cultures. These demonstrations are rooted in the fact that any discord resulting from this new hybrid society will potentially be dealt with by Chinese courts. How would you feel?

Great response from the HK populace. A pity HK's leadership seems to buckle under pressure from China. They don't want another Tiananmen Square. China might try more covert means to reach dissidents who reside in HK.

Very impressive seeing massive numbers of people wearing black yesterday to peacefully voice an opinion. The reality is Hong Kong is part of China and such demonstrations are ultimately futile but still quite a sight

Unlike the true crimes that China has and continues to enforce in Tibet....which isn't Chinese....but is being colonized into China regardless.....However yes, Hong Kong is a region of China. Hong Kong is a region with a modern history that is very different to the mainland. The agreement with the British of 'one country, two systems' was an honorable one but its meaning has been deliberately slowly picked apart by Beijing for decades now. Many of us have known since that 97 agreement that this would be China's real attitude and strategy and plenty of HK people obviously will 'not go gentle into that good night' but.....most of us know how this story ends. In twenty years you will struggle to see a difference between Hong Kong and the mainland......China are serious about 2047.
