I have never seen the central midfielder, Jerdy Schouten, and frankly, he doesn't seem very good at the age of 22. Maybe defensively, but I'd have to watch an hour of him on various matchday videos to make an opinion.

The left is quite good for the Dutch league at his age, but has a contract until 2022 (long time), so he wouldn't come cheap. And again.....you bring a left back from the Netherlands when you want a more grounded option for PVA, who is great attacking, but a bit flawed defensively? Well, that's exactly how all the Dutch defenders are.

On the subject of players from the Netherlands, Ajax youngsters Vaclav Cerny (21 yo) and Che Nunnely (20 yo) are finishing their contracts on the 30 of June and don't really have prospects of making the Ajax first team (or they do, but not as starters). They would welcome a higher salary and a chance to play in England. Get them, loan them to the Championship and in 1-2 years time, you might have a 15 million player ready to come in.

Also, some good options from the Netherlands are Andre Vidigal at just 20 yo from lowly Fortuna Sittard, but very talented (when you look at West Ham's second team and see they've already brought in similar players like Xande Silva and Mesaque Dju, you know they have a future) and Alkmaar's Gudmundsson (21 yo), though he would require a fee of about 2,5 million.

A few years ago I had a charming conversation with Bobby Gould who informed me that he took the long trip to Yeovil to watch Stuart Pearce playing for Wealdstone.I think he said that after about 10 mins he had made up his mind that he was the player for Coventry and he was signed by the midlands club.

Jerdy Schouton is a bit like a slightly more attacking minded Jimmy Mac according to my friend who is a football nut that lives in the Hague and has decided that Excelsior will be his dutch team. Says he's no where near good enough from Prem and would be a low level Champioship/Top level League One player.

He supports Boro though so frankly his judgement is questionable.

Not far from where I live there is a Premiership club that have made a number of signings from the Dutch League.

Of 4 highly expensive signings, only one has been a success.

Approach with caution

Our history with Dutch players is awful. Not one has been any good. From Jeroen Boere to Riedewald , I can't think of any. Only Kolka was reasonable, and he wasn't Dutch.

..yes you are of course you are

I am guessing that the team in question is Brighton.
I can think of 3 players from last season who were signed from the Eredivisie :
Propper £6 Mill, Jahanbakhsh £17 Mill, Locadia £14 Mill.

The other being Soufyan Ahannach who was signed 2 years ago

Quite a lot of players have been signed from the Eredivisie to the PL over the years. Some have been great, some average, but a lot of dross as well. The trouble is that while the Dutch league is considered to be Europe's 6th best, there is quite a gulf in quality compared to the PL/Bundseliga/La Liga/Serie A. It's difficult to say if someone who is a good player in the Dutch League will make it in the PL. It is certainly a risk if it's a big money signing.

Undisclosed...but that's £37m + spent for little return.

You must know this yourself, the BHA fans are as critical of their transfer record / scouting over the past few years as we are of ours.

To be truthful I have hardly had any conversations with Brighton supporters about their team.In actual fact I have not had that many conversations with them about anything ! Don't come into contact with many Brighton supporters.
