England need to move on from Stones and Walker. TAA/AWB should be starting at RB and Gomez at CB over those two. Some good may come from this game as Stones might have just signed the death warrant on his England career after that second suicide pass for their 3rd.

I have never rated the latest England as much as many.Reaching the semi-final seems to have elevated our status but it really was an easy route to this stage of the competition. As far as I am concerned the hype does not match the substance.

We were outclassed today but in beating Colombia and then Croatia to make the semis here England turned some corners recently. We need to look at the back four as there are far too many errors out of those players except chilwell. Southgate needs to act and get stones out of there, he has been exposed for what he is. Walker should be replaced soon surely by a double barrel kid or other. The offside goal was unlucky as it was incredibly tight. That goes in and we march on to be beaten by the Ronaldo all stars. Moving in the right direction but a very long way to go. Every time we play from now on we will be getting the high press after that s*** effort at playing out from the back.

Christ, that must have been a big earthquake.

Guardiola as we know likes his defenders to play out from the back but towards the end of last season, he preferred Kompany and Laporte as his central defensive pairing.

We lost to Croatia, the second decent team we faced, after losing to Belgium.

I'm with you on that, Willo. However, We are still a team with massive promise, and tonight seemed to be more of a blip than anything. It's a young team, its gonna happen. We over achieved at the WC and by and large our same old problems still exist; naive at the back, struggle in the Final 3rd and do not raise our game in major Tournaments. The best thing the WC did was show we have players now and coming through that can change that, and I believe will do that.

I’d also swap our entire midfield bar Henderson for the lads in 21’s. Choudhury maddison foden mount. After 15 minutes I said something I never thought i'd say.....bring on Henderson. Sums it up really.

Walker had a s*** game, but people are going way overboard - he played 33/38 league games last season for arguably the best side ever seen in the PL - apppreciate the challenges are different for City, but by any definition he’s an excellent right back. Having said that, I think that’s the last will see of him in that spot for England - expect he’ll compete with Gomes for the right centre-back spot in our preferred system with Trent the first choice right back. Considering the players missing, I thought it was a decent performance; Lingard starts his run a few centre metres back and we’re all calling it a good win. I think Winks looks the real hope in central midfield as the only one who can dictate from deep - pair him up with a destroyer like Rice or Henderson and I think it’s well balanced.

These after season games mean players are not fully fit. Training is not the same as competitive matches. I had a feeling this might be a game too far for our lot but Stones has to take the blame for yet another mistake.
