Didn't make the U21 squad for the Euros this month.

Not saying that the coach is right, but still...he considered Jonathan Bamba, Ikone, Reine-Adelaide, Marcus Thuram and even Romain del Castillo to be better than Alain Saint Maximin.

None of those have a 25- 30 million price tag (except maybe for Bamba cause he qualified to the Champions League with Lille, but he was free just 1 year ago!). So...is he worth it?

With you on this. He is not a 25 mil player. Clarke had just gone for 8.5 mil to Spurs. Surely similar players. Perhaps 15 mil with maybe 10 up front. Tired of the ridiculous fees.

Think the rumour has come from him playing similarly in style to Zaha, albeit with a lot less end product. From his highlight reel looks exciting but probably rough round the edges- may come good may not. If other youngsters better then him and cheaper, deffs would hope we would be all over that

His show reel does make him look an exciting prospect, but it would be good if we could get him cheaper than 25m and still keep Wilf and Andros so there is not too much pressure on him while he beds in. Imagine him and Wilf in the same team; of course it could either be bloody insanely entertaining to watch or a disaster. Definitely one of the more exciting rumours as the lad looks like he would provide entertainment.

I also noticed from his stats that despite a number of seasons under his belt he is still only 22 (Perhaps why he wasn't in the U21 squad?) Each season he has improved his goals and assist rate too. The more I look at it the more I am excited by this (even though it will probably never happen!)

There are even players of 23 years at the Euros. They had to be below 21 when the qualifications started. And ASM was in France's squad in the qualifiers. The coach just decided that the 4 wingers he picked are better than him.

Not saying that coaches are always right, far from me, I always say most are a bunch of unqualified pharesees. Just that there's a big difference in how much Reine Adelaide costs for example and 25 million! Honestly, I'd rather have Reine Adelaide or Jonathan Bamba from the France U21 squad, more agile and with a longer future in football in my opinion. ASM is kind of like Adama Traore from Wolves, he might break the PL on short while, but will never actually be worth the sum in the long term

Press reporting he's close to agreeing terms with Newcastle, though that may change now they are without a manager.
As people have already said, his end product doesn't look great, but he looks very exciting. I'm certainly all for signing him, but in addition to Wilf and Andros, not in place of.

To be honest I've only seen the YouTube clips in which he looks similar to Bolasie and Zaha before they matured. You may be right that there is better for less, but prices seem to have really shot up in the last 12 months. I would actually have liked Traore at Palace, albeit in an impact sub role like he typically has at Wolves. The way the market is if ASM came here and played well he would be a 50m player by next summer. Of course it could very easily go the other way. I think even more important for the club than the fee would be what wages he would command.

This guys is mad and so arrogant about it. Just why I pay all that money for a season ticket. Even if he’s not the best he will keep making a Saturday afternoon fun.

Today’s newspaper rumours suggest that Wilf defo wants a move this transfer window, to Arsenal so maybe Reiss Nelson could move the other way as part of the deal? Given that Arsenal are struggling to find the full £80m Palace are reported as asking, getting one of Arsenal’s best younger players might sweeten the loss of Zaha to some extent?

If Wilf has to go 50m clear and Reiss Nelson is a good shout.

Reports in France apparently saying we've bid £28 million for Maximin.
