Because it was an FA Cup Final with a world wide audience Watford could not play their usual game of continually fouling the opposition to break up their rythm. They were like lambs to the slaughter.

Between the 2 I'd rather go out with Watford, but if were there yesterday we'd never in a million years have lost 6-0.

We would have made a better fist of it than Watford by employing our usual tactics and the moaners would complain about Roy's negative tactics even if we managed to win. Watford suffered from stopping playing after they got to the final and had lost all their momentum from earlier in the season , Man City took full advantage and were awesome. The moan is that we play that way no matter who the opposition is rather than horses for courses. I agree that the way we always play (up until securing safety) would have been perfect for this game and we'd have stood a much better chance than Watford. That said, it shouldn't be overlooked that we got dunked out by that s***house of a team due to said negative tactics and allowing ourselves to be kicked out of the game. Overall, it was lovely to see that mob of hackers humiliated, unable to conduct their usual thuggery due to VAR, with chief dirt bag and big mouth Deeney completely anonymous. I fancy Watford for the drop next year, VAR is going to ruin them.

I would take a qf defeat over a 6-0 drubbing in the final, but I agree with previous posts that Palace would have been more astute tactically than Watford, and they wouldn't have folded. We'll never know, of course. Edited by YT (19 May 2019 11.01am) I think we did try to sit back and counter attack which lead to that great chance we missed but our defence certainly isn't organised and disciplined enough to stay compact and keep a team like City out. We let them have the ball too easily and our midfield probably not aided by Doucouré getting himself booked for dissent early on struggled to gain any foothold on the game. Then we had a little positive attacking spell of 10-15 minutes at the start of the 2d half but they made the changes which really killed us off - we were just totally exposed and I do think kind of gave up at 4/0 which is disappointing.

I don't like Watford but it's human nature to want to see the underdog give it a go against the team buying success. So long as Deeney didn't score I wouldn't have begrudged Watford a win. As it was he mouthed off in the media again and then completely bottled it, as did the rest of the team other than Marriappa first half and the Spanish lad from Everton. The right back should be sacked he was that frightened of city. Good luck next season when VAR completely nullifies Deeney and your entire midfield. Saturday might be an indication of how things are going to be every week now you're expected to play football.

To be honest I would rather a 6 nil drubbing than what happened to us in the final. Watford could at least walk away saying they were just outclassed by a team of superstars. What hurt the most was the hope and unbridled joy of being 1-0 up only for Clattenburg and that annoying c-unit Lingard to take it away.

TBF much as I disliked Clattenfvck, I struggle to recall what harm he did us after we'd taken the lead. He even sent one of the opposition off - rightly so of course.

Apart from all the bantz with Fergie in the tunnel, the disallowed goal, not sending off another united player and generally just giving united every decision? I struggle to see what harm he could possibly do in the 80 seconds it took them to equalise anyway, although I feel confident that he had his eyes peeled just in case an opportunity to please his master Fergus***e arose.
