I think Hennessey will go, which is why Butland is being linked

Surprised we're not thinking of Nick Pope, who was the best English keeper in the league season before last.

In all honesty no-one outside of the inner sanctum knows who we are after or even if we are after a keeper at all

Can you really see Butland coming to us to be Vicente's back up though? Butlands a good keeper but hes not as good as Guiata

That's debatable. Butland was very highly rated only a couple of years ago, perhaps he has just lost his way and confidence due to Stoke's recent downfall

Butland was Excellent -before he got injured. He's never been quite the same keeper since. Then Pickford usurped his England no1 spot. Confidence must've taken a hit.

Surprised me he stayed with Stoke when they went down. he should've moved to a PL club.

i do think if we can, we should look at the GK area.

VG great shotstopper but looks like hes got a rick in him at any given point in time, not much in him & wayne overall.

if we can afford it we can do better, but if as it seems funds are tight, both would do as number one.

I was very suprised we didn't go for Jonas Lossl released by huddersfield after relegation. He is not a world beater but would offer real competition to the other two

There’s a long line of quite s***e keepers that look decent in a relegated side mainly because they have loads to do. Hull keeper Jakupovic was one, highly rated after a season of Hull getting pummelled. John Ruddy, remember him? Got an England cap, turned out to be Championship standard.

There’s also some real quality that gets relegated too, although these are generally the ones that have pedigree; Fabianski, Foster and Butland all got relegated last season!

So my prediction is Lossl and especially Etheridge will go back
to being shyte any day now.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Perri rumour' by bexleydave

According to Read Crystal Palace our third keeper (following Speroni’s departure) Lucas Perri will not be joining Palace on a permanent basis as we failed to complete on a £4.5m deal by end April to do so. Another rumour is that he hasn’t cut the mustard at this level. Not sure if either rumour is true but I don’t want to see us having to spend a whole chunk of money on a new keeper if we don’t have to. We have other more important positions to fill!

The article refers only to our failure to complete the reportedly €4.5m deal by the 14 April deadline, which is described in the article as a possible “negotiation strategy” by ourselves.

As he's never played in any PL or cup games for Palace, it's difficult to comment on his abilities at "this level" without more information.

Tim Vickery the South American football pundit wasn't impressed when we signed him and felt it was a gamble. However if it's true we don't want him it won't have cost us too much and perhaps this is the model we will follow in the future. We have had 6 months to assess him and also see if he has settled in London far better this then sign a player who turns out to be an expensive flop.
