Absolutely agree, he has been our weakest link all season by far. He gives the ball away a ridiculous number of times and is a defensive liability. As for the idea that his defensive weaknesses are balanced out by his attacking contributions - how often does he actually contribute well to our forward play?

A scout looks for a yes answer to these 3 questions.

Does he prevent goals? No

Does he create goals? No

Does he score goals? No

He must have seen Sterling make his run, why didn't he go with him ?

Ball watching ? And he didn't even try to sprint back afterwards either.

Plus Sterling was his man as well.

He was caught out by the best attacking team and player in the league, I feel he thinks about attacking when he shouldn't against teams that are better at it then us, not necessarily all his fault we were caught out all over the pitch just that Man.C made him look bad because they took the two chances they had with him out of position, PVA has a good positive influence on others around him most of the time.

If he HAS to go and we find someone who is willing to buy him. Who exactly should we replace him with?

Teams around us have the following at LB

Vinagre
Digne
Masina
Masuaku
Charlie Daniels
Charlie Taylor
Dummett
Bertrand

There's maybe 1 or 2 tops I would swap for PVA. I'd say for our level, he's a good player that has just had a season that has been below average but has also had a season and half for us that was good.

We want loyalty from our players, but we're very quick to turn on decent players. Can't have it both ways.

Wow. The sort of scouting we’d be guilty of.

PVA has been toilet all season. I hope for all our sakes he can sort it out next season. I think a lot of it is he’s one of the worst in our team for believing their own hype sand his form nosedives. Think about it, Bristol City away, Brighton away, those first games for us when winding up away fans seemed more of a priority and a distraction he couldn’t avoid. At his peak he was brilliant, but this season he’s been terrible and a weak link in the team where play breaks down or possession given away cheaply. As it’s mainly mental there’s a lot of hope he’ll recover form but he’s costing a lot if not.

In summary a similar situation to Benteke then, though not as extreme. I think it makes sense to stick with them both and help them get their mojo back, as they sell for much anyway. At their best they both contribute plenty, easily the best sorts of players at what they do that we could hope to have. Roy did it with PVA before post Bristol City, he can do it again.

Spot on.

A run of below par games and our heroes are suddenly cnuts and ‘toilet’. It wasn’t that long ago fans were worried we might lose him to a European team. Embarrassing.

It is also somewhat ironic that PVA, whose strength is going forward, is a fixture In a RH team that is criticised for its defensive style.

This.

Schlupp is a left back. It's King Roy who refuses to drop players based on performance.

PVA should've been dropped way back after Bournemouth away. Couple of games with Schlupp there would've sorted his entire season out.

Doesn't help that he has Schlupp playing in front of him.

The pair of ‘em gave the ball away 12 times in the first 11 minutes against....Huddersfield! Shocking for professional footballers.

Crapness is forgivable. Lack of effort however.

The main issue with PVA is he tries to get forward and since Sakho is out he has no one to keep him in check.

When he does then lose the ball (being unable to use his right foot), there is no effort to get back at all.

However (and most infuriatingly) is that he is an utter wimp. Turning your back on a shot possibly forgivable but closing your eyes to head a sodding football is unforgivable!
