The knee injury and the time out associated with it has taken its toll I'd say. Shame, because he was a very, very good player. One of the best CBs we've had in years.

hes looking like hes past it, im getting a puncheon vibe from him, just lacking that extra yard that you need at this level. still good in the air though and he might get back in the swing if things. kelly is much more mobile and a better passer. just shows what a top player sakho is, gutted he got injured. I agree with the general thrust of these comments. Dann looks accomplished in the air but on the ground he doesn't appear to be the quickest or the most mobile. In his early 30s now and not the player he was.

Only fair that the speculation is out there given he is third / fourth choice. I would still like him as cover and I wonder if his lack of pace is due the injury itself or the time he has spent out and therefore no longer as match fit as he once was.

He's done a bloody good job for us and up until the knee was mustard. Certainly one of the best centre backs we've had in the last 30 years. 6 million seems a fair price for a player that we know as fans is finished at this level after that injury. He moves to a big club, I imagine on good money for what would be his final career contract, filling in admirably when needed. Seems ideal for all.

He’s on a lot of money now as a backup, as long as we can find a good, cheaper alternative. £65k or more.

Is it somewhat perverse that he's being described as potentially excellent cover for Newcastle, but we no longer regard him as valid cover for CPFC, at a transfer fee of zero?

For about three seasons after signing I would say he was borderline worth an England call up. Was never quick but has lost pace since injury. Good servant, wish him well if leaves.

If Scott goes we had better have someone good to replace him, because he has been terrific for us. When he came back into the side after Sakho being injured, we actually looked a threat from corners for the first time in a very long time....

It's no coincidence that when he played at the end of this season that we scored goals from dead ball situations and failed spectacularly to do that earlier in the year when Dann wasnt playing. I think he still has a role as a back-up for one more season. I think Dann or Kelly would be all right alongside Sakho or Tomkins. I think both Dann and Kelly were a bit rusty and having the two together meant they both looked poor.

cant see any reason to bash scotty dann. not 1st choice anymore but miles better than any backup CB weve had since promotion. i wouldnt be worried if he started next to mama.

If we are trying to cut costs then it makes sense if Dann is happy to leave. So long as there is a cheaper long term alternative out there or already at the club.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |
