I can see that the penalty rule change could be fair, in the event that a pen is awarded when the player is going away from goal, or has no real chance of scoring.
But what about if an outfield player saves it on the line with his hand, the keeper then pulls off a world class save, but the ball ends up as a tap in, that's penalising the attacking side twice.

Suarez is not a cheat.

Sky reporting that from next season if a penalty is parried by the keeper or hits the post it’ll be a goal kick. Probably to save time for VAR - there won’t be any encroachment to check if players don’t have follow ups to worry about.

This is incorrect – rebound amendment falsely reported as being a new rule.

Another great example of how quickly any old dross can spread and be believed these days...

there are however 4 other new rules

sub has to go off closest point...i like this, hate seeing that pathetic jog in the 94th min

managers can get yellow cards...fair enough

no attacking players in the wall for a free kick...fair enough

accidential handball goals wont count...fair enough

positive all round i say

Alan Shearer was arguing Aubameyangs penalty should have been retaken for encroachment but how would that be fair? Arsenal get a 2nd bite of the cherry just cos a player was in the box. Spurs would rightly be livid if that happened

What about deliberate handball to deny a goal? Goal should be given to avoid a Uruguay world Cup scenario again

From now on the person about to be substituted, when the clock needs running down, will simply gravitate towards the centre circle.

Another rule change is that people in the wall defending a free kick will be able to stand like Ronaldo does when he's about to take one, due to them being allowed to have their arms at their sides rather than tucked in or behind themselves.

I don't see the point of yellow cards for managers, that's just another time wasting exercise.

Because that's the rule. How is fair that you encroach by 5 yards and are then the person who clears the goalmouth scramble that followed the missed penalty?

The proposed rule change is needless as well as silly IMO.

Also, will you still be able to do the "roll the ball a couple of inches, and your mate runs in and tucks it away" penalty?
As tried, and f**ked up by Henry and ?? sorry memory fails me as to who else.

I was lucky enough to to see Cruyff 'live' once. Ajax v Panathanaikos, European Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in 1971. I've no idea how my Dad got tickets, but what a great night it was.

So I watched the mighty Ajax before I ever watched the mighty Glaziers!

doffs hat for me the Dutch team circa 73-74 was even better then the Brazil team 1970.

Shame about the rather "solid" West German team
