A loan is better than nothing - if there is no prospect of finding a permanent signing then at least a loan can help tide you over. Mind you, having said a loan is better than nothing names like Bamford, Adebayour, Sanoga, Flammini, Remy, Ameobi, Jerome suddenly challenge my own assertion.

The reason we’re in these situations is because the scouting has been poor. We’re supposed to be sorting this out. Getting back into another mess is potential suicide. I therefore expect us to do it, forget about the possible consequences, enjoy it for a while and then watch everyone criticise the club for doing it. I doubt we’ll have anyone else in mind like with Benteke and Sakho and we’ll only realise we don’t when Chelsea make their demands. But all this depends on Batsman wanting to play for a bottom third Prem team. Maybe he will, rather than be a bench warmer.

I think Batshuayi is supposed to be on £90k a week at Chelsea (and us, presumably) but supposedly wanted £160k a week to join West Ham. But your point still stands.

So is he right or wrong to buy a crock. I haven’t seen him play for Bournemouth and been thinking, wish we signed him.

We're not really able to invest up front while Wickham and Benteke burden the wage bill. Not that sticking to low-risk loans is a bad strategy given the competence of our scouting network...

Excellent goal, really really excellent goal from Michy at the weekend. How many times of late have we seen a true poacher's goal smashed into the back of the net by one of our centre forwards - not often. However he also showed when given time and space he sometimes makes the wrong decision with the 1 on 1. Problem with this all is that the better this guy does with scoring goals, the less chance we have of signing him permanently. Same with RLC, as soon as he got the nod to go to the World Cup, we had no chance. In the end they didnt even sell him at all, let alone to us. I hope a serious conversation has been had with Chelsea about this to establish if we really have a chance at getting him or not, given their embargo and our financial constraints. When we are safe, if we play him ahead of players we will actually have next season its a mistake as not only are we helping another team in the same division, but we are denying game time to our players.
