Wonder how much longer Abramovitch is going to stick it out as owner? He is hardly at the games now due to his visa restriction and they just seem to bounce from one manager to another. He doesn't do interviews so we never get his thoughts but with this ban happening he might just think sod it and decide to sell up

So the embargo is only on purchases not on sales?
Seems strange as they could cleanup ready for a years time then be well within FFP to spend an absolute mint.

There have been mutterings that the club would listen to offers but there is talk of £3 Bill which of course restricts the number of potential buyers.Abrahamovic bought the club for £52 Mill.Maybe with the transfer embargo any potential buyer might use this to bring down the price.

Chelsea are his insurance policy so he doesn't go the way of Litvinenko or Berezovsky if he falls out with Putin.

Staying in the public eye abroad is his strategy.

Prior to the Skripal posioning he was applying for a new visa and just gained residency in Jersey and planning permission for the new stadium.

The changes to the visa rules meant he had to explain where his wealth came from, so he withdrew the application prior to any investigation.

i have no faith in this punishment being carried out and fully expect Chelsea to appeal and get it overturned. That seems to be par for the course with these things. Big football clubs find a loophole and carry on.

I'd love to be proved wrong but you only have to read the Chelsea FC statement to understand they have no intention of admitting guilt or complying.

I agree, or overturned and get a meaningless fine.

They also have 90 days in which to appeal. The transfer window opens on May 17th (84 Days) so although tight there could still be some transfer activity before they appeal, where they then get a reduced sentence down to one window & that one being the January one.
