Spiderman, go ask the Palace board if we were "seriously" linked. This is a Kouame theread (not made by me), there have been numerous articles citing interest from Palace and I just wrote what happened eith the bloke. I don't think he will be injured until the summer. I think his recovery is going well cause he's hard working and he'll be back on the pitch in a month. It would have been a good deal, that's my take on it. Now I understand why a club like Palace would be weary, cause of what happened with Wickham. But this is normally a 30 million player (in a Top 5 league, not like Bowen in the Championship), at his first and only injury. To get a price like 11 million is good business for any team buying such a player. Mattteo

So are we interested in signing him or not?... I’m confused...
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

It strikes me that most of what is posted on here is utter b***ox, by people either pretending they’re in the know or else seeking attention. Following what’s looking like another poor window can we just focus on reporting stuff that may be happening, as it’s been reported already, and people like me - who are working tonight - may miss?

Didn’t know where or how to post this but it seems James Daly has gone to Bristol Rovers on a permanent transfer. Strange as we seem to want to promote youth.

Well, at the risk of regurgitating this to everyone‘s dissatisfaction, it would appear that our deal to sign Kouame was done and dusted until he did his ligament. Yet again, as with Ferguson, we pulled out at the last minute, only this time Fiorentina jumped in and signed him, injury and all and hope him to play before next season. I understand why we might not sign an injured player but it would appear his injury was operable with a high level of success anticipated, which makes me think we were not interested in players for the future. Our attitude in the market is so short termist, it’s almost like, ok we can’t take that risk let’s just put up with what we have got. If this guy turns out to be another £60m player in 12 months time we will be kicking ourselves again.

There are not that many injuries, in this day and age, that keep players out for too long (Wickham accepted). I suspect he will continue to be a very good player and I believe Ferguson will as well. If rumours are to be believed we could have got the pair for approximately £12 million!

If I was splashing 10's of Million's of pounds on a player(s) I would not want to be signing anyone needing or in the process of having major surgery. Risk is to great and it only takes a player to lose a fraction of speed and they are not the same player.

Considering our injuries this season it would be bonkers to go and sign someone who is already carrying a long-term injury, especially given we clearly have a tight budget. This kid might recover fully and be a shining star, but there are too many unknowns, especially when you also factor in he has never played in the PL.

Question for all. Do you buy a player who has never ben injured, or do you buy an injured player to nurse back to health?

It seems unfortunate that we have had two potentially excellent transfers fail due to medical/injury Issues, but I can totally understand that with our limited budget we cannot afford to waste money. It is hugely encouraging, however that we are going for - and were this close to getting - these types of players.
