I am quite inspired by this - the young know what matters but our generation has failed lamentably.

All power to these kids and fair play to them for standing up for something that they believe in. Hopefully it will encourage them that they can effect change, and make them politically/cause-minded as they grow up. My generation, or certainly me and my mates, were too interested in getting wasted during our childhood and youth and I don't really feel like a vote counts for much or that enough of my like can be mobilised to make a difference, probably because I was never involved in or encouraged to act in the way these kids are. When these kids grow up and hold influential leadership positions maybe some real change with regards to climate issues will happen. They are the natives of this movement whereas to most older generations have had to deal with it being a new and questionable (to some) concept.

I bet they all got their today in Mummy's carbon burning car, wear clothes and eat food shipped at great ecological expense from all over the world, etc etc etc. We all have a duty to combat climate change and it starts with our own choices.
I'm just glad my 3 are all thick as sh@t and wont be going (sorry son if you have just read this - I know you often read my posts, however lets face it..you ain't the brightest spark! Lots of Love dad xx).

So with a strike you withdraw labour what are these kids withdrawing? Their education? Why don't they just protest on a Saturday?

Watching schools do their own mock elections around election times is hilarious as they fix the results to suit their own sensibilities.

Yep...Parents should be aware of what goes on in subjects like the humanities. Some teachers are beyond reproach but it also can be extremely unprofessional. It's unfortunate that politics is so much part of the fabric within teaching.

Thousands of students are today striking calling for the government to take urgent action over the environment. As these young people are so concerned about saving the planet and its resources I thought I would help them with my suggestions. - Teenagers who forget to turn the lights off or unplug their chargers should have then pocket money deducted.
Sounds like you want to punish kids for wanting the world to be a better place! Might be how you are wording it! :-)

Think the kids have done a great job here. Hopefully the adults might start to copy their good example. If adults show they are as concerned as the kids are it might get the politicians to do something about the problems. Whether you believe in climate change or not we all have a duty to take care of the planet as best we can and we should be ensuring our politicians do what they can to ensure the next generation have a flourishing planet with clean air to breathe and to live in.
