Hate is way too strong a word but it makes me smile when they lose and the thought of losing to them is unacceptable as is them finishing above us in the table.
A good Saturday is to know that Brighton, Millwall and West Ham all got beaten.
The rivalry is not over and I doubt it ever will be!

Hate Brighton, oh no, i have moved on from that,.....I hate Watford now, there a club worth hating.

I hated them in the 70s and 80s but not any longer. I pity them.

Although the rivalry seems to be there on NSC, they struggled to sell out their reduced allocation at Selhurst and no one seemed that bothered when we met in the cup last year.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I don't look at NSC that often but the anti Palace posts seem to come from a dozen people with others just joining in for a bit of sport

As said on other threads, my hatred is only really kept alive by the fact I live in Sussex and work in Hove, so generally encounter more Brighton fans than fans of other clubs. My Dad (also a Palace fan) hates Southampton more as he used to work and lodge there as a younger man and was constantly mocked for supporting Palace. He attended nearly every Southampton game one season to sit with the away fans and support literally whoever they were playing.

This season I feel a little bit less bothered by Brighton. I'd like to see them relegated, sure, but if I could pick between that and Liverpool spunking the league right up the wall, I'd pick the latter. Somehow I feel like I would derive more joy from Liverpool blowing the league title than Brighton going down.

It’s a strange one really, I see younger fans from both sides claiming to hate us or we hate them, why? They weren’t even born when it was rife in the 70’s/early 80’s It’s because it’s the done thing!! Football fans have to have a rival, someone to hate.

I hate Brighton, but not this Brighton, the Brighton of the late 70’s/early 80’s horrible nasty pieces of s*** on the pitch like Brian Horton, Steve Foster and Peter Ward. Travelling down to the goldstone two Christmas’s on the trot to see us get beat, them beating us 0-3 at selhurst when we went down!! That C*** Mullery. Proper mass brawls, that as a kid and a coward I had to run the gauntlet and try to avoid.

This Brighton I couldn’t care less about really, I want them to lose and I want them to go down, but only because I’m a palace fan, therefore I have to hate Brighton.

The whole rivalry thing is just a bit of fun unless you are a thug in which case it is an excuse for a punch up.

The Brighton thing has a bit of history and Milwall are loathed by everyone who have the misfortune of experiencing some of their fans. They used to come in huge numbers to Selhurst and that was always 'interesting'.

My personal dislike is West Ham. Their fans have been horrible since I can remember and I detest the bulls*** chirpy cockney image they portray and the ex players and celebs who line up to sing their praises.
Now they have been practically given a stadium that has elevated their status completely against the spirit of fair competition and it annoys me greatly. Their owners sell dildos for a living.

I could go on.

I must say that in terms of visceral dislike, Watford have overtaken them for me lately.

But the Brighton rivalry is still alive for me - was over the moon when we beat them last season and absolutely disgusted with our players during the loss this season.

I do quite like Hughton though.

Closing ceremony of rivalry is at the Palace v Brighton game on Sky.

Sky had to be there AND IT'S LIVE

Similar to Part Time James, because of where I live the rivalry is still there. In fact since moving from Hove it's got worse as there seem to be more Weed fans in Shoreham.

Example - I was in a local pub with my mate who is also a Palace fan, discussing what a ball ache it is to get to and from the Amex. Our conversation was overheard by a guy that introduced himself as a BHA supporter. To be fair he wasn't the usual delusional type you usually come across, but he did take pride in calling his kids over, boy and girl, and asked them who they hated. '' Palace '' they both replied...estimated ages 12 and 10.

Still hate br*ghton and always will - but hate Moan U considerably more, mainly because of their glory hunting followers from Surrey who'd never been any live game let alone to Old Triffid - and of course Eric c***ona.

Had to work with a few of them in the 90s - no idea how I never got in trouble with HR for some of my workplace "banter"
