There are huge amounts of 'tipsters' on Twitter and the overwhelming majority are absolute frauds. Common behaviour includes lying about profit/loss records, deleting losing tips, deliberately putting out false tips to push business towards another selection in order to push out the price on the one they want to back, simply running an account to gain followers and make money from affiliate deals and so on. There are a few out there who know what they're doing but it's such a polluted pool I generally would swerve the entire thing. Furthermore, and I say this as someone with extensive experience from working in gambling risk, if you follow tipsters and pile onto one selection at the same time as loads of other people rather than having a genuine bet, your account will get chinned very quickly.

Gambling is for mugs. You never see a poor bookie, and there's a shot ton of them: I wonder why? As for tipsters? Someone's already sussed it: it's a numbers racket, if they were so good they wouldn't need your money, and as for the bookies banning them? Like they can't pay someone to lay a bet on their behalf if they're that good. It's fascinating that the poster has spent such time researching and recommending the subject. It's a disease that blights our society and you're trying to promote it as a science? You're inadvertently as bad as the con man tipsters and bookies picking decent people's pockets.

I agree to an extent, I think the real problem is on the high street with the FOBT machines and the fact the detritus of society frequent them. I'd ban betting shops completely and move it all online or make it a membership system like with casinos or bingo halls. But sensible people who like a bet and want to seek an advantage, I don't see anything wrong with that

You’re obviously very passionate in your view and well have to agree to disagree. However, I am not recommending gambling to anyone- I’m just saying if you do already gamble and have an interest in tipsters, I review them so it may be something of interest to you. I also disagree about them paying someone to put a bet on for them. These people will also get banned quickly and theyll run out of people. Normal punters, like other people on this thread have got banned, let alone tipsters. If your point related to unstructured casino betting, then that is fair.

I can see you’re commenting on something you know very little about. Not only will you run out of bet placers but the better odds are online. A good ROI Return On Investment will be over 10%. Over 20% is excellent. If you’re losing odds because you’re taking worse odds at a bookie that’ll accept your bet or poor odds at another bookie online, your margins are being squeezed. A numbers game! Bookies obviously know all this, you don’t, and there’s other things you’re claiming which aren’t the case. As for tipsters who shouldn’t need to sell tips as they’d be making money on their bets. Well you can argue that they can’t get their bets on. There are good paid for and free tipsters. I’m using them and making good money thanks so I’m okay if that makes me a mug. I’m actually one of the 3% that do make a profit. I agree on the unscrupulous nature of bookies and I’d be ashamed to introduce myself to new people as a bookie employee but this Cardiff Eagle isn’t the same as them, trying to help people to beat them. He’s just starting out doing this reviewing from the wrong places, which might have any followers win less.

Simply not true. They are for football (Paddies or whichever tinpot bookie on Talkshyte), but that really is a mugs game. Very little value in it, almost nobody makes a profit, even medium term. Odds are too short for a start and the draw screws the whole thing imo.

Rather than take the gamble on the event you have already made your money by selling your opinion.

There's a lot of people letting their disease talk for them on here so in the interest of clarification, when I refer to a bookie, I don't mean the shop, I mean the entity that you give your money to. Whether this is a paper or online format is irrelevant. I appreciate that I'm massively in the minority given the culture of gambling in the country. Out of all my friends and family, only me and my Dad don't gamble and I find that obscene. Here's a challenge to open your eyes: every stake you lay, put the equivalent amount in a drawer, and your winnings in another drawer. After a year has passed, open the drawers and count the money, see which pile is higher. Edited by ChrisGC (06 Feb 2019 10.56am) Edited by ChrisGC (06 Feb 2019 11.16am)
