Holloway came close with his transfers, but he signed so many there were a few good ones amongst the mix.
The bad ones I remember :
Kebe
Grandin
Marrange
Campana

What credentials did Freedman have exactly to land that job? None whatsoever.

Move on FFS, every club has signed failures, some very expensive.
You know very well Freemans credential, what credentials does a D of F require?

Beyond having played for/ managed us, I'm not sure what DF's qualifications for being director of football is to be honest

My understanding of the role is someone to act as a link/buffer between the board and the manager who's experienced in administering the business of football, understands the demands of management whilst also having an appreciation of the commercial interests of the club. They also build/ promote a model of growing the club through success on the pitch translating into commercial growth and vice versa.
Day-to-day, I imagine they oversee the management structure of the football side of the business.

Having never done this job before, not having any business related experience/qualifications to my knowledge, and having had no recognisable success as a manager, I struggle to see what's obvious about his credentials for the role.

Sandor Tourgelle (apologies for spelling) and Valerian Ismael spring to mind from previous incarnations in the PL

This would be correct as to why we didn’t resign Sako last window as squad was full.

Interesting comment.

People come here to debate different points of view, Painter. Better get used to it. Re failures, yes, some more than others.

I ask again, has there ever, in the history of the club, been a transfer window as bad as the one in which Jach came in?

What credentials does a Director of Football require? So can I have the job then? What about my 3 year old niece, she talks a good game.

Utter nonsense to say you can have any job at a premier league football club of such stature and importance and not have the credentials to have it. Complete tripe.

No fan of “Doug’s” recent record but having signed the likes of Jedinak, Delaney and Bolasie for virtually nothing and taking us to the top of the Championship from being relegation favourites there was plenty to suggest he had a eye for a player.

If this is correct, what was the point of signing the new goalie on loan?

Our 4th goalkeeper has been loaned to Maidstone United so presumably Perri goes into the development side rather than be a serious contender for the bench at PL games? Come end of the season there's everything to play for as Speroni retires. There must be an option to buy in Perri's contract.
