Neil Gaiman was a local lad, East Grinstead

His books are passable if a bit wandering.

C.j. Sansom's Shardlake series - 7 books all excellent set in the time of Henry VIII and Cromwell.
For something a bit different in the 'supernatural/crime'
genre, try Phil Rickman's Merrily Watkins series (a CofE female vicar who is also the Diocesan Exorcist) sounds a bit odd, but a brilliant writer.

OH loves J.P.Donlevy's books - as mentions in the OP's list.

Jack Higgins specially "The eagle has landed" which is a thousand times better than the film version.

Touch my coffee and I will slap you so hard even Google won't be able to find you.

It's My husband who loves them rather than me. He's read all of them - his favourites are the Ginger Man and A Fairy Tale of New York.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Magnus Mills

Especially The Scheme For Full Employment (2003) and The Forensic Records Society (2017)

He's also a London bus driver. Still working although he could afford not to. His novels are hatched and plotted while he works his route.

Farahad Zama

He's my next door neighbour and writes on the train on his way to his City job.

This is what critics said about The Marriage Bureau for Rich People:

Hah!!, betapa repotnya.

Stephen King is the horror Master. Very detailed writing.
Also like James Herbert, who is quite a formatted horror writer. The hero fights an evil force, with some 5h@gging along the way. Very readable.

I tend to read more science-based books in my middle-age. Arthur C Clarke is a true science visionary and pioneer of ideas.
Stephen Hawking is the master of theories. Some of his works are incredibly tricky to get through. I would suggest "Black holes and baby universes" gives a user-friendly insight to the man and his theories
