World war 2 or a big European war or conflict was probably going to happen, damn now I think a big South East Asian war as well. I was going to say that a less punishing treaty would’ve helped. Perhaps no Hitler could’ve meant a war without the final solution, but then the alternative could’ve been worse, or when war methods were even more destructive. Hiroshima may have happened closer to home, with more of them. Hmmm. Need a lay down.

A butterfly can flap its wings in Brazil and set off a tornado in Texas......The 'butterfly effect' is an uncomfortable reality for all of us. Like many systems the future is the sum product of the past.....the cause and effect of countless inputs. I agree, a less severe treaty of Versailles would have reduced the chances of the Nazis taking power significantly.....The Americans learnt the lesson of Versailles in how they treated Germany after WW2.....looking to rebuild instead of reducing it to slavery. However....the Germans just found a different way to control Europe.

Seriously? The outcome of the twentieth century could have been a lot worse than it was. We are lucky to have survived it without nuclear destruction. The idea of altering history is beyond daft and not worth discussing. Firstly it is impossible and if it could be done, the mess you might cause by attempting it could be disastrous.

It's quite amusing to see the reactions online to this brief answer by Ben Shapiro though......It shows just how many people we have who are prepared to say they would murder a baby if they thought they were doing some greater good. Some real Abraham wannbes out there. Edited by Stirlingsays (20 Jan 2019 12.29pm)
