Teams will target him on crosses and corners even more too.

We all love him obviously but he should have had 2 of those goals, probably 3, if he was still up to it he would have but he’s far from up to it now.
I don’t see how it matters that it was away to Liverpool either, not one of those 4 goals were wonder goals and a shot is a shot wether it’s at Anfield or Exeter.Ive read so many comments slating everyone who dare have the opinion that he had a mare just because he’s a club legend.I love him as much as the next Palace fan and I won’t hold it against him but the bloke had an absolute shocker.Id hate to see him crumble now and let in a shed load of goals in his final few games for us so I say play the Tupper kid or the new Brazilian if he’s signed in time.

Agree . Love Speroni. Don’t know if he’s lost it or had a bad game , but of the 4 goals , a decent keeper shouldn’t be letting in more than 2.

Any player that has been out of the 1st team for a year would need to get 'match fit' again - speed, stamina and sharp, fast reactions.

Whilst a keeper won't need the speed and stamina so much, the sharp and fast reactions definitely are an essential of his game....... Jules was not match fit yesterday, and it showed.

Last week, it was clear Wayne was not up to full speed probably due to lack of recent playing time so it was a huge ask to expect Speroni to step in and be on top form not having played a competitive PL game for over 12 months.

Think we need minimum 4 points from these two games, Southampton and Fulham.

I’m not sure it’s a minimum necessity; I’d be happy with 4 from these two.

Maybe Jules will play against Tottenham in the cup tie to hopefully get back on track. I take some of the comments about being ‘thrown in’ to the cauldron at Anfield, but surely any club’s 3rd choice keeper should be fit and ready to ‘don the gloves’ at any time...otherwise you might as well just have 2 in the squad.

People are mental. It was his first game in a year against the best attacking team in the league. I can't go on holiday for two weeks without feeling like I'm Bambi on ice when I get back into the gym let alone not playing for a year.

The guys is a club legend. He deserves more respect and patience.

Besides, it wouldn't be Jules if he didn't have a howler in his first game...

Julian is and will forever remain a Palace legend - if the injuries to Guita and Hennesey takes time - what about buying Nick Pope from Burnley - he is excellent

At least one goal was a defected goal, another was after a hand ball.

Assuming that Vincente and Wayne will not be available for Spuds and Soton Roy needs to put whoever he feels is good enough for the Spuds game. If they look competent enough then pick them for Soton. Test the goalie for the the Cup game. Happy to have either a newbie, youngster or Jules for the Spuds. Each will be a gamble.

I’ve got faith in Jules. I’d imagine he was a bag of nerves yesterday, not played in over a year and suddenly he’s called in to play away at the league leaders.

The third was clearly a massive clanger, I don’t think he could have done much with the other three. It will be difficult to get a better keeper than him for a 1 month deal. Vorm is a good suggestion, but no team would loan out their 1st or 2nd choice keeper.

Apart from Vorm, which other 3rd choice keepers would be an upgrade? It’s just a desperately unfortunate situation to get both keepers crocked in the same game.

football is a results game and i love palace more than Speroni.

but if we replace him it must be with a keeper with proven prem experience. Yes, jules is a question mark and a risk. but compared to some kid with 'potential' ? i am willing to risk starting Speroni for the Fulham game.

he is one of the greatest palace legends i can recall. and goalkeepers organise the back 4 in ways that are not to be taken for granted.
