I believe they were ‘brought in’ by SP and Co because they wanted to sell some of their shares in our club. And personally I wouldn’t blame our owners for cashing out and securing their financial futures. The American investors are just that; investors. They are not sugar daddies. They have no secondary agenda. They have no affiliation to the club. It’s purely financial. They have invested their money to reap a return and make a profit. Any proposed transfer must therefore satisfy this business objective. And given the relatively modest rewards for finishing higher up the table it is my guess that their strategy will be to spend the minimum amount to avoid relegation. After all, where’s the incentive to shell out tens of millions of pounds simply to finish 9th or 10th when the extra prize money for doing so won’t even come close to covering those costs, let alone generate a return. In this context RH’s bargain basement comments make perfect sense.

You make it sound so easy. So, who do you buy, how much do you spend, how much salary do you offer, how do you convince them to come to Palace? Then, how do you guarantee that you get results? Fulham have just spent a fortune and I mean a fortune on new players and what gave the got to show for it? Do you think there is some sort of entitlement that comes with spending money? Finally put yourself in the owners shoes. Do you think that spending another say £100m will put us in Europe, because if there is no guarantee, then why would they do it and if we got there how would we cope with it (Burnley). Unless you have a philanthropist owner pulling the purse strings, which clearly the Americans are not, then they will do just enough to try and protect their investment and nick as much money out as they can. It’s the way of the world and I don’t know why anyone thinks football should be any different to other businesses. Our biggest problem as fans is that football is our passion, not our business. Massive difference between the two.

Some good points in your post, Fulham went crazy and imported to many players at once that is for sure. We need to invest in the strength of the squad and mostly on a finisher. I am not advocating spending 100's ml just not buying rubbish we have wasted money on in the window 12 months ago (joke IMO)

How hasn't everyone worked out that the model is high salaries for the board members until the inevitable relegation? SP's PR abilities aren't that good. The forever tomorrow stadium, lick of paint to and some new seats to make it seem like something's going on and absolutely no investment in youth should've put everyone onto him ages ago. Most of the staff in key positions are not qualified for their roles, they're just former palace favourites to prevent any real criticism. Wake up people!

The development plan for Selhurst Park/ Crystal Palace Football Club is pure fantasy. We're just rolling along until the wheels fall off and tv money dries up. I'd still expect to see minimalist interventions from the board to prolong a return on their respective interests but they're all dipping their snouts not investing in the future of a football club. Expect very little and you won't be disappointed! Edited by Henry of Peckham (15 Jan 2019 12.19am)

One of the biggest mysteries in life is that loud stupid people normally don't have even the slightest inclination that they are stupid. |

How is it financial fair play if the top 6 clubs can buy whatever players they want, but no one below them is allowed to do it? "Fair Play" would be forcing the same salary cap on all 20 teams, so City would be dumpster diving for free transfer bench players the same way that we are. Liverpool debates whether to buy Ronaldo or Messi, and we debate whether to buy a crippled 40 year old from Lyon, or a Torquay bench warmer, or the top goal scorer from the Eastern Macedonia League. Fair play! Honestly, FFP is the biggest load of crap I've ever heard of, and I don't even understand what it's supposed to accomplish, other than to keep the bottom feeders from ever having a chance to get better.

Thing is, people ask why have the american investors got away with no stick - simple, they have done nothing wrong. Parish had an agenda, he wanted to offload some shares while the takings were hot - he and the board got a nice pay packet - like the plan was all along - to buy the club, stabilise it and sell on. Thing is, parish got backers involved, but parish still runs the show and the americans are doing exactly what were asked of them and what they are prepared to do - they are obviously getting something back from this and even if they were not.. it's small change to them and probably written off by their other companies. If we were to go down this year, we would have naff all to show for it... embaressing..no...shameful really.

same old same old comments board are bleeding the club dry they take millions out of the club and keep it for there selfs, SP at fault because he wont invest his 42million in the club that will go along way not. lets look at wages avg salary of a player at our club 3mil a year maybe, times 25 thats 75mil,thats without the players that are not named in the 25 man squad, staff, upkeep of the stadium gate receipts 26000*40*19 20mil roughly short full already, yes sponsors money,tv money to add still doesnt cover everything thats just what we can see, bigger clubs can buy better players sell one get one, so all of those that want more go to your bank draw your money out, spend spend spend see what you have left, no money no wealth no home and no team, bottom line how many times do you want us going into liquidation before your happy Edited by michaelpearce (15 Jan 2019 7.44am)

While I truly can't stand overly optimistic people....because they are nearly...if not as quite as annoying as overly pessimistic people....I just want to say: This has been the most successful prolonged period in Crystal Palace history. It seems only yesteryear when I thought my club might disappear out of professional sight. Now people are moaning because we aren't as successful as Spurs.
