With all this terrible crime going on give it a few years and hardly anyone will live in London. You hear about people moving out in record numbers and its no surprise.

I don’t really want to make a political point about this but it’s unavoidable. The tradedgy of the left is that they want the same as everyone else in stopping this but are simply letting this happen by filling the moral vacuum with grievance culture and envy.

How about starting by putting the police on the streets and enforcing the rule of law?
How about the mainstream media calling out the glamorisation of misogyny and the inherent violence of rap culture
How about promoting the benefits of the traditional familly for children
How about stopping low or unskilled people coming to this country from violent cultures

Wouldn’t that be a good start?

Can’t help feeling the ship has sailed though.

I’m with you in this one. If we had ‘zero tolerance’ then 14 year olds driving around with no licence or insurance would be cleared off the streets, therefore this kind of escalation wouldn’t happen.

There was a photo of him in one of the papers this morning, which I think was taken from Facebook (now been taken down so can't provide a link) of him sitting on his scooter, face muffled up in a scarf, making gun signs with his hands....

You don’t say!! S’funny, but the BBC clearly hasn’t managed to obtain that photo; at least not for any of the news reports I’ve seen, so I will be open to correction on that.

All the time we deny the problem then the problem gets worse.
The Black youth of this county have a massive problem with crime but let's not forget that drug crime is not all about Black people. The youth often do the running for others further up the food chain and those guys are by no means always Black. Organised crime is a multi cultural business.
None the less, when someone is shot, stabbed or robbed in the street, more often than not, it is usually someone Black doing it.

Time to be more honest and save some lives maybe?
These kids don't stand a chance all the time we bury the issue.
There has been a massive breakdown of parental responsibility and control over children who are more influenced by the local criminals and irresponsible popular culture than home.

Meanwhile the media are peddling this weeks identity politics bingo.

What do you suggest the answer is?

"Everything is air-droppable at least once."

"When the going gets tough, the tough call for close air support."

- work for dole
- greater sanctions for absentee or useless parents.
- reduced benefits for young women choosing to get pregnant with either an absentee partner or with an unemployed loser. Stop giving them a free council flat, put them into dormitory accommodation.

greater tax breaks for working people to have kids. Greater housing help for the working poor.

-curfews for urban teenagers after 6pm.
- tougher penalties for carrying a knife, being in a gang, owning a pitbull.
- better control over the border
- keep workers living away from scroungers....

build a giant ghetto on the Shetlands and put all the scroungers there. No free cash, food stamps only. Reduced benefits the longer you are unemployed until the State is giving you 'bread and water' while you live in a tent.

basically Margaret Thatcher's tough love.

Blair/Brown have ruined it for everybody by promoting an entitlements culture.

The longterm unemployed should not have flatscreen HD tellies, cars, designer clothes and tons of leisure-time to pursue their sex life on a tuesday morning while the taxpayer is busting a gut in the office.

There will be people who study and deal with crime who have educated opinions on this problem but as a concerned citizen, I would say that a key objective of society is to protect people from harm. Indirectly with counter measure programs to tackle anti social and criminal behaviour and more directly through prosecutions.

It seems that for many, the soft approach is usseless and they just need to be incarcerated for very long periods to keep them off the streets.
The tax payer will foot the bill but that is better than being afraid to walk the streets.

Violent crime must be met with frighteningly long sentences.
