It's been clear for a while that he wouldn't make it at PL level, but I'm still sad to see him go - I have no doubt that he would have been good enough if it weren't for the injuries. It's hard to feel sympathy for most footballers, but watching Jonny struggle on the Sunderland Till I Die documentary almost choked me up. Hope the kid becomes happy and successful - even if that benefits Charlton (who really cares about them anyway?)

Watch his farewell interview on the CPFC website. I found it quite moving! Nice bloke.

Yes a permanent deal until the end of the season. I believe another one of our academy players will also move shortly but only on Loan. Yes. It's Nya Kirby and that seems to be common knowledge

I am so sorry & disappointed to see Jonny leave us but it probably is the best thing for him. I hope to see Jonny playing in the League one Play Off final for Charlton. Celebrating going up, then getting a further contract. Hold the tears back when watching the full interview with us.
The pyramid to beat all pyramids!! Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in? |

Very best wishes Jonny you are an Eagle to be proud of, hope The Valley will be a successful injury free career move, nothing less than you deserve.

Superb, really hacking through the lunch ticket bods now. Really, really disappointing 'career'. Sat in our reserves for the best years of his career, the occasional loan to keep the profile up. He'll bang a couple of goals, get a two year deal and then sit in their reserves for the duration I expect.

Great guy and potentially a great player. Very sad to see him go. I will keep an eye on his career. Always thought if given a run in the team he would have done well.

Just - blimey!! Has any player ever been held in such high regard for doing less? In this age, when fans give players no time to prove themselves and quickly turn against even their favourites if they lose form. Williams remains popular despite doing f*ck all. I like him as well, it’s just it’s weird if you think about it.

Cheers, I was starting to think I was the only one scratching my head over the love-in. I'm like you, nothing against the guy, seems nice enough but seriously? Long overdue.
