All the values we used to uphold as a nation seem to have gone. Public services which were amongst the best in the world are now $hite thanks to years of cuts and indiscernible planning. Private services are not much better ... has anyone tried to get a gas engineer lately? Prices of essential items keep going up, roads are overcrowded and our countryside lost to indiscriminate development. Poor leadership at every level ... if anything goes wrong they all pi$$ off because it's the easiest thing for them to do. However, "Big Brother" whatever official entity he is these days, does love to control and spy on you to ensure he gets the last penny out of you. Control, expense and diminishing quality of life is all you can expect here.

I've also been making plans to move...not abroad, just op' north instead. london is becoming less and less interesting for me...is it because we're all getting to a certain age??

I heartedly recommend leaving the UK After 30 March it'll go rapidly down the khazi. Perhaps return in 50 years, that's when the unicorns are predicted to arrive

Only through work, but I've spent quite a bit of time in North East Scotland and Norn Iron and they both have some really lovely parts - great fishing!
