Absolutely right but firstly we are at home, secondly Brighton had only lost once at home (Against Tottenham) and thirdly Cardiff's away record is far from impressive. I am fairly convinced that complacency wasn't the reason why we lost at Brighton and I cannot see us going into the Cardiff game with that attitude. We all hope that after that stupendous victory against Man C, the Cardiff game is not a case of "After the Lord Mayor's show". Edited by Willo (24 Dec 2018 8.24am) We’ve done it before and will do it many times again.

I've seen a few Cardiff games this season and what they lack in quality they almost make up for in spirit. They get a lot of balls into the box and their Icelandic midfielder has a huge throw on him. However, technically they look like the weakest side in the PL. We will undoubtedly dominate possession and it will probably be a case of whether we can break down what will likely be a very defensive set up from Cardiff and whether we can manage their quick wingers when they break. Had we not beaten Man City a draw against Cardiff would have been a bad result, but now there is less pressure on this game to win it, albeit a defeat would be a very bad result.

Cardiff's net spend in summer was around £28 Mill.Signed 6 players, 2 of which are on Loan. One of the loan players is Harry Arter who is no stranger to yellow cards and Eddie Howe joked with Neil Warnock that Arter would get booked in training !

Call me a passion killer, but it is a much more important and better result to beat Cardiff. Wins against the likes of Citibank are glorious but we must learn to regularly earn our bread and butter points from the dross at the bottom. Correct. We arguably had the easiest first ten fixtures in the league other than Everton (bar the Liverpool game) and totally naused it. The win against City was typical Palace. A win against Cardiff now really would put us back on track and is much more important for me than City. Typically, we'll probably lose 2-0.

I suspect that it wouldn't surprise most of our supporters if we succumbed to a defeat against Cardiff with cries of "That's just like Palace". Cardiff have scored in 6 of their last 7 PL games and recently fought back to only lose 3-2 at Watford after Watford had eased to a 3-0 lead.Cardiff will not be lacking in determination and team spirit and they will be 'Fired up' by Warnock.

I don't think we will be complacent for Cardiff. I do however think that the boys may be knackered after the physical and emotional exertions at City. I thought that Wilf looked injured for most of the game. I really would like to see Sorloth start to offer some hold up play and free up some space for Andros and Wilf, if he plays. I would certainly settle for a scrappy 1-0 win.

It's a massive cliche that 'the real test is against Cardiff', but also true in as much that it asks a question - can the team be as disciplined and focused when it's not the 'team of our generation' as Townsend put it. History tells us we stand a good chance of bottling it, but it would be nice to see if they have the mettle to overcome a completely different challenge of Cardiff FC. There will be loads of gamesmanship from Warnock and they'll go after Wilf both physically and mentally trying to wind him up to put him off his game or provoke a reaction to get him carded.

And this is what, over the years we have struggled to do. Probably why our away form is better.

The difference between the Man C and Cardiff games is that on Saturday there was no real pressure on us, but it will be different at home to Cardiff. An early goal for us will be hugely beneficial.

Maybe we should set up like we did vs City. And let Cardiff come at us...then we can counter!

I think the team will be very aware of the dangers of complacency and our history of falling into that trap, especially so soon after the Burnley/Brighton episode. I think we will dominate as we did against Burnley but having finally started to convert the chances could end up getting a hatfull. We are at home, with a boxing day crowd behind their team who have just beaten the champions. It could be very good fun.
