I disagree. It’s a real weakness for him and recently it’s got worse. Christiano Ronaldo was the same at United when he was young. Got lumps kicked out of him every match and was petulant. He’s eradicated it from his game and became the worlds best player. Wilf gets kicked no more than Hazard but Hazard can handle it. Skilful players will get the physical treatment, simple. He needs do something about it as he’s letting himself down at the moment and it’s affecting his form. Must driving Hodgson mad. Sports psychologist sounds like a sensible idea. The same Ronaldo who got sent off for pulling someone's hair earlier this season? I agree with Neillo. Hazard and Ronaldo both get given far more decisions in their favour than Wilf does.

They do get more decisions for sure. But do you think that’s possibly because Wilf is constantly whinging, flapping his hands about and occasionally goes down too easily? He’s the sort of player who would piss off a referee and get decisions against him. I’m confident that if he was less petulant he would win more free kicks/penalties. After speaking out he’s become an easy target for opposition and it’s clearly affecting his game.

No. I think it's because they play for "bigger" teams and are both considered international superstars. Referees aren't there to get pissed off, they're supposed to make each decision on merit alone. The ref got it wrong which led to his frustration, if they can do it me why can't I do it them?

Wilf may be many things and I love him as a palace legend but bright would not be the first adjective that springs to mind. Originally posted by Glazier#1

If Wilf plays v Cardiff, it’s a far bet he’ll get a right whacking.

Look at Wilf's recent form, pictures of his leg in a temporary cast (even if just to protect it during rest) and hobbling off at City and it's clear to see the man is injured or at the very least playing through pain. I actually think when Wilf is on fire and you can tell there's nothing niggling him he doesn't seem to get as wound up or booked himself for losing his head. I genuinely think the Man City thing was a player that has been asked to play with a knock, agreeing to do it because he wants his team to win so badly and knows we only really stand a chance with him in the team and he gets hacked yet again and the Ref does nothing. I don't blame him. We may complain about a 1 game suspension now but I fear it's a matter of time before he gets Luke Shaw'd and then we'll realise him fighting his corner and getting booked is better than him having his career ruined because Referesss do not look after him. There's another thread on the forum asking should we sell Wilf. I think it's absurd but for his own health he should certainly move to a Chelsea or City. The fat refs of the Premier League will suddenly wrap him in cotton wool.

Fact is, he'd get far more protection at a bigger team. Ronaldo and Hazard get targeted and kicked about, but it's a bit easier to take when you get the decisions most of the time. I have no doubt that since Wilf vented his frustration that the refs have got together and decided to give him absolutely nothing, taking the criticism personally. I also don't have any respect for pundits and former professionals telling him to suck it up and get on with it. They should show solidarity with a fellow professional who one of these days is going to have his legs snapped. At the same time, Wilf does need to to learn to let it go to an extent; they'll do it all the more knowing it gets a reaction. I feel the club and club captain should support him better with the situation. The captain has the right to talk to the ref, so on the pitch the policy should be for Wilf to get up straight away and get on with it and for the captain to get on the ref all game long. Behind the scenes the club should get Wilf some sports psychology/ personal management sessions to control his frustration. He's right to be angry, but sometimes being right just isn't enough. Wilf should never have been in the position to be on camera venting, the club should have done that and taken a fine. It did need to be said.

His defensive attitude does fustrate me. I don’t think players like Georgie best got too upset about being fouled and on top of that they were proper fouls back then At the same time I feel he wasn’t as badly affected when we had bolasie. Purely because opponents didn’t have just one silky player to look out for. Now they all hang up on wilf. Yes we have Townsend and Meyer but it was yannicks power and pace that frightened opponents. Perhaps if we get hold of Moses this will free wilf up somewhat again

He’d get far more protection at a bigger team because of my point above. Opponents wouldn’t have just one star player to worry about so they wouldn’t have a game plan just on wilf alone If Messi joined us he’d be kicked bigtime cos opponents would think ‘we’ll if we keep that lil fk quiet we’ve won cos the rest ain’t up to it’

I think he wants off. His current performances suggest that there is much confusion in his mind. Best to get him a therapist. Wilf, if you are looking, pull your pants up and enjoy what you have.
