Wow... Roy: We don't necessarily need reinforcements next month. We'll have Benteke back soon, Wickham recovering from a 2 year absence, Sørloth, Ayew. We believe we have players within our ranks who can score goals. Edited by DeanMiles (14 Dec 2018 3.28pm) I don't blame Roy. This sounds like the newly promoted manager telling the press "I think it's only fair to give the players a chance" This is code for I asked the Chairman for 6/7 players and he told me to go whistle. Anyway let's hope Roy and Steve are holding their cards close to their chest.

Take whatever Roy seize with pinch of salt he never comes out with what he really thinks. He is the type thats old school not releasing dirty laundry to people outside same with you wont ever hear him say bad things about others. He knows you gain nothing by doing what the likes of Moaninho do all that does is unsettle fans/players/club. We need a few people to come in I wouldn't mind Defoe on a loan deal until end of the season and then maybe take the risk with few loans from EU we really need cover on wingers and other midfield options to many players are the same no competition. If we stick with loans and put in clauses to buy those players as option in summer thats good but I would prefer we save the cash for summer rather then panic buys and no funds in summer.

Think it’s becoming clear from listening to Roy that we are not going to spend anything or very little this window. Receipe for disaster given our current predicament . Wonder how long Roy will stick around now.

I understand your sentiments but had we done that in January 2017 I believe there is every chance we would have been relegated.I suspect we wouldn't have enticed Allardyce to join adopting that policy.

The obvious answer is either nobody or nobody of any merit. However, I would like to think that there is a possibility of an effort to wheel n deal in the window.

With West Brom in the top league, he'll be getting more chances than he got at Newcastle last year (where he was pretty decent, much better than what the Palace strikers have done).

He is on loan from the Toon for a season and with them in the same predicament as us there is no way they will allow him to come here.
