Dry porridge oats are a great (and green) way to kill slugs - they love the stuff!

I'm going to offer three books = all by Nigel Slater and if you're a rubbish cook, these will help you avoid starvation, not at huge cost and not normally with too many ingredients or great complexity. I think it's true to say Nigel has been my Delia for some time. Real Cooking, Real Good Food and Appetite. There's a chicken, couscous and baked spices recipe that's amazing. If you like scrambled eggs on toast, after you butter the bread spread a bit of honey on top of the toast before you load up the eggs. It combines so well with the other flavours. Sounds wrong, tastes incredible. Try it, pass it on to your friends. You’re welcome.

The first thing to do with a new computer is wipe the hard drive and install Ubuntu Linux. If you can get a computer without paying for Mickeymouse Windoze at all so much the better. If you did pay for it, decline the end-user licence agreement and claime the Windoze licence fee back - you aren't obliged to buy Windoze just because it comes bundled with the computer (deemed anti-competitive). (Last night I spent a whole evening trying to get a Windoze account to understand that I was not a child and ended up being reminded of just how intrusive and horrible this software really is. The day is coming when Wine is able to run all Windoze software in native Linux and when that happens the witch will be dead. Ding, dong!)

For any DIY'ers out there, when buying your one and only cordless drill, never buy anything with less than 18v and 3amps (very important as that's where the power is).

Make your own kebabs - cook cheap lamb meal or cuts then wrap in silver foil to soak in own juice at lower heat for a good hour or so longer. ideally slice onions & red cabbage & put in a warm naan bread with onions and nandos peri mayonnaise(the hot one) paste inside of naan bread in humous.
