I would suggest corporate security. Most banks employ ex coppers if your lucky just just sit at a desk in reception issuing id's to visitors and take an occasional turn around the building. Canary Wharf is full of buildings like that. Good luck, when I saw the thread title I thought you meant you were chucking in supporting Palace I was going to tell you its not that bad I've seen worse in my time. Firstly, I'm sorry to hear the sad news. It's always unfortunate when a decision is taken out of your hands. As has been said above, if you have a hobby you love and can make a few shillings from it then go for it. This is a a great opportunity to do whatever you love doing and go self employed. Whichever direction you take, I hope it all works out for you.

One other suggestion. A neighbour mentioned this lot (Trust in Blue) as very good so if you fancy doing odd jobs or a bit of DIY. Don't the police have their own social media site where you can ask for help? If not why not start one I will give you the website name Coppers R Us. Good luck Edited by Badger11 (09 Dec 2018 9.42am)

Well yesterday I was informed by the Metropolitan Police that after 18 years service they are going to medically retire me with my last working day being the 4th January 2019... I'm 40 and have no f***ing idea what to do!!... Can anyone give me a job???!! If you can't run then have you thought about becoming a Norwegian international striker? Great pay and no running required. Just stand around in the box, bit like directing traffic

if they let you keep the uniform why not try being a stripogram? seriously, it's awful the way people are chewed up and spat out at work, I'm just in the process of increasing my pay off from the s***es who I have had pulling my strings for the last couple of years; as far as jobs after policing there's security but there's also the social services side, youth and community work, there might be the odd thing in that area, good luck.

If you are flexible on the no public service issue then there are parts of the civil service which would welcome your skills. HMRC or Borders are always looking for folks and depending on where you work it not shift work.

Jeez, KBLF. I saw the thread title and thought you were flouncing. Not sure if your early retirement is cause for congratulations but I do wish you well whatever you choose to do. Good luck, my friend.
