This season has been very disappointing with only 1 win in 14 PL games.

And we all know whom that was against, don't we?

Win percentage at Southampton 13% which is total total toilet. Will now be regarded as poison, like Pardew.

Davis taking over as interregnum so don't think there's an Allardyce dossier on their desk yet.

Now been sacked at Man C,QPR,Stoke and Southampton.

But he did take Blackburn up to 7th in the PL in his last season before joining Man C.

I understand that Puel went through a rigorous interview process and I believe was interviewed 3 times before he was appointed.

I know that the now departed Les Reed Reed had a dossier of potential managers that was constantly updated, with intelligence on those considered the best fits for Southampton - especially useful when managers leave during their contracts, as happened in 2014 and 2016 when Pochettino and Koeman departed.

There were only 9 days between Puel being sacked and Pellegrino's being confirmed as his replacement, showing how the dossier enabled the club to act decisively in appointing new managers.Maybe Hughes' successor will be in situ quite soon.

Well he has over a 50% win % at the club !
And there is a different regime in charge.
I would be aghast if they re-appointed him.

I would be delighted.

Hope they don't get Big Sam in as that will probably mean survival - Hassenhuttl is the current favourite, and hopefully a gamble that won't pay.

Southampton believe that a manager needs to be a fit to the philosophy of the club. When they appoint a manager they want someone that buys into that philosophy and fits into their ethos. This continuity of approach also ensures that existing intelligence gathered through their 'black-box' in terms of recruitment etc will remain useful for the new person.

Southampton have had 6 managers in just over 9 years, but two of them Pochettino and Koeman departed for pastures new.

Regards the last three :

Puel - Some considered his sacking a surprise given that they finished 8th under him and reached the FA Cup final.
Pellegrino - He was sought after by a few clubs but he struggled at Southampton and they sacked him when they were in 17th place.
Hughes - Took over with Southampton in 17th place with 8 games to go but he kept them up, finishing in 17th place. This season has been very disappointing with only 1 win in 14 PL games.

League Cup Final

I stand corrected, nevertheless the fact is that Southampton reached a cup final under him.

Hughes now has the unenviable record of the only Premier manager to be sacked twice in a calendar year.
Doubt he cares, 2 pay offs to bank. Some club will employ him, just hope its not us.
