Seems very strange. The statement that there was contact didn't seem to matter for Niasse when he dived against us. In both cases there was contact but it was unrelated to the fall. Both clear dives but different punishments. There's a whole bunch of rules which make absolute no sense. The non review when a yellow card is given is an absolute farce. Wilf being booked against Watford a few seasons ago for 'diving' when after the game Mariapa comes out and says he fouled him. Then this season the Capoue 'tackle' absolute joke. The no review on yellow cards often results in incorrect punishment and potential to build unfair repuatations.

Without giving this any thought as to the implications and after consuming copious amounts of alcohol last night in the company of family I am thinking that maybe consideration could be given to allow appeals for a yellow whereby 2 yellows have resulted in a sending-off.If there has been a clear and obvious error by the referee in awarding one or both yellows then it seems unfair that a team should suffer a player not being available for a match. Maybe once my head has cleared I will consider that this suggestion is a load of old hogwash !

Be interesting to see the reaction from Klopp and co if Liverpool give away a vital penalty for a foul like that in the important game against Man City next week... Yes there was contact but Salah went down very easily - he doesn't always do that! I think the fact the Newcastle player did try to grab him saved Salah as the ref would say there was intent from the defender to foul.

He leapt off Sakho's foot like a salmon trying to get upstream, he also fell conveniently after losing control of the ball before AWB fouled him. He dives. I was listening to the Guardian podcast and they actually said that it had really crept into defending too. Some of the worst dives are by the back 4. It is quite amusing to see them throwing themselves around the pitch. Parrot

The 'Diving' debate invariably relates to incidents which occur in and sometimes on the edge of the penalty area with players accused of exaggerating the contact and going to ground far too easily. In other areas of the pitch one witnesses players plummeting to the ground after minimal contact yet these players are not accused of any simulation and "Drew a foul" is the narrative. How many times do you see a player being challenged by a player behind him and with barely a hand being placed on him he goes to ground ?

No chance of the scousers conceding a dodgy penalty, this season is all set up for them to win the league.
