The world used to stop revolving the day Lost in Space was on, it used to empty the street of us kids after school, loved it. The first series they tried to compete with Star Trek and it was really good back then,but the second series they started to try to compete with the camp Batman series that was on at the time and add a bit of humour and it was awful,,,,,especially when you watch it now!! Anyone remember Marine Boy? That was Japanese of course. A nice bit of cultural enrichment at arm's length. I like the music to Marine Boy, and i liked the banana splits, esp dear Drooper and the flashing blade, though it wasn't animation, the french guy who did the dubbing must be a rich man bcos it's always his voice when anything is dubbed from French, and I think the singing ringing tree was czech, like boris the bold and the mole.

Irwin Allen was interested mostly in appearances and cheap monster thrills. The stories were secondary and often pinched. Watched the new Lost in Space and after a slow start, it became quite good. 'Dr Smith' is quite enjoyable as a crazy bunny boiler woman and the PC modernisation is not too in your face, unlike the dreadful new Doctor Who. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (18 Nov 2018 12.09pm)

Indeed. Very memorable. It was actually recorded for the Americanised version. They used to do some good theme tunes in those days. You can remember most of them, which must say something.

Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (18 Nov 2018 12.09pm) I agree, I enjoyed the new Lost in Space, which surprised me, I thought it was going to be pants, I agree about Doctor Who as well, which is a shame because Jodie Whittaker is brilliant, it’s just the scripts are shocking now and it’s gone all ‘bbc’ Needs a bit of mind bending twists in time as well and there’s no more long running story that they drip feed you little bits through the series and ends in a gripping season finale Edited by monkey (18 Nov 2018 1.39pm)
