You have to ask? The remake was an abomination.

I agree that Arrival was a little 'arty'. Surely Bladerunner was a little pretentious too.

12 Monkey's had the great and strangely moving pay off ending.

It was....just the right amount for me....it's like how much milk you like in your tea.

Mmmmm....I'm going to put the kettle on.

Starship Troopers was on TV last night. What a great movie. Verhoeven at his best.

Great action with satire and a good script.

And people actually like Star Wars.

Not sure the lefties will agree with you as it is a pro fascist state movie. Still it was nice to see Denise Richards in her prime.

It really isn't. It is a satire of war glorification.

Just had a quick google it would seem we are both right. To be honest my comments came from a boring work colleague who used to bang on about the book as though I was the greatest thing since the bible.

I have not read the book I confess. Certainly, the film is heavily satirical.
I guess intelligent sci-fi is best in written form but not necessarily exciting. Most of the good bits of sci-fi novels are pinched for movies with different stories.

Two of the best sci fi books I have read aside from the classics are Eon by Greg Bear and Old Man's War by John Scalzi. I'm surprised that they haven't been made into films yet.
