I just struggle to understand some supporters. There are those that applaude the team off the field following a decidedly lacklustre performance against Wolves and then those that can’t see the contribution put in by particularly the ever dependable Tompkins and today Sako who i thought together with Tompkins was outstanding. We have just played and aguably could have beaten, a team coming of the back of 11 straight victories and instead of commend and give credit to those who put in a really good shift we criticise them. Great result totally unexpected!

I think you've misunderstood, I am not criticizing at all. Just realised from the game I was not paying enough attention to those 2. No where have I stated they were poor. I get carried away at the game enjoying myself I didn't notice those two as much.

Were you there today?

Also...Meyer should pass the damn ball faster!! Definitely not an 8 deserving performance

Just my opinion but you are way off the mark there.

Finally something to cheer about at the ground. Always find it harder to analyse players at the actual game.

Hennessey 6 - Seem to claim the ball when needed, wasn't tested much apart from their 2 goals. Feel more comfortable with him in goal these days.

Wan Bissaka 8 - Excellent game, takes on players well and dealt with their attacks. Needs to work on his final ball however.

Tomkins N/A - Didn't see much to be honest, can't rate.

Sakho N/A - Same as above.

Luka 8 - Scored 2 penalties.

Van Aanholt 7 - One of my favourite players, links up well with Wilf. Provides an attacking option. Not his best game, but better than recent weeks.

Zaha 8 - Our best player on the ball by far, always looks like he can do something. Sometimes he doesn't pass early enough but then again if he did we'd probably only give it away.

Kouyate 7 - Best game in a palace kit so far.

Townsend 6 - Works his arse off but he ends up running the ball into dead positions. Hopefully form will change for him.

McCarthur 6 - Same as above, works hard, lacking final quality.

Ayew 5 - Disappointing, doesn't hold the ball up well and goes down too easily.

SUBS

Meyer 8 - Such a positive player in and around the opposition box. He needs to play more.

Sorloth 8 - Very impressive game today, we have given him stick but he has to start the next game. He held up the ball well and looked far more threatening than Ayew.

Have to agree about Sorloth. Think he changed the game when he came on and ran his heart out. Got to be pushing for a starting spot now in Benteke's absense. Think we need a target man up top to link the play up and Sorloth was just that today

the fellas he took off looked tired and ayew was on a yellow. Well done Roy.

Agree with this, Roy was proactive today and it made a difference.

Having watched the game on TV it was good to have a bit of excitement and entertainment compared to some of the performances earlier this season. Thought both Sakho and Tomkins played well - particularly Sakho who I don't think missed a pass the whole game.
My only dissappointment was at 2-2 with Arsenal on the ropes we went into panic mode and starting hoofing ball up the park. If we had kept on doing what we were doing to get back into the game we could have created some more chances.
I would temper the excitment by saying Arsenal were missing almost their entire back 4 and their second line defenders were pretty average. They really missed players like Koscielny and Monreal but we did compete well in midfield and Arsenal barely threatened and their second goal should have been disallowed and the first was a softly conceeded free kick.

Saw the TV player ratings afterwards & they actually gave Arsenal better numbers than ours! Can't believe that as we were much better than them over the course of the game.
What did you think of Arse's first goal? I thought there was a hint of offside to it, or am I just biased?
The second shd definitely have been disallowed, a Maradona-like moment of clear cheating.
As my Dad always says "We should have won."

8s for Sorloth and Meyer? Don't think Luka performed brilliantly overall other than the two penalties.

To fill in the blanks, Tomkins put in yet another good defensive display, and Sakho distributed the ball well and didn't make any glaring mistakes - 7 apiece.

More importantly, Sakho seems to have had a serious talking to by the management/colleagues, because I was pleased to see him regularly passing back the ball to Hennessey rather than put himself and team mates under pressure.

Also he had players on the bench in Meyer and Sørloth he could be proactive with. They are both young players and still new to the PL. But they both no look to have learned a lot and are ready to start. Sørloth should start ahead of Ayew but not sure that Meyer should start ahead of McArthur

Not surprised as I mentioned on the match thread regarding the BBC :

Always love the BBC for saying it as it is :

"Aubameyang nudges in after Lacazette appears to handle ball"

"Arsenal's second goal, which may have featured a handball in the build-up"

At least Alistair Bruce Ball later said it was handball, of course Chris Sutton had to counter claiming Zaha dived for the penalty.

Really? Even though Xhaka admitted it was a penalty. Let me case Sutton was arguing that morally it was a dive.

When is a dive, not a dive?

When a defender stick out his leg and you have to dive over it to avoid injury, it would be pretty stupid to plough straight into the leg.

So factually Sutton was correct, morally incorrect.

Sutton was being a complete cock. The one against Everton he said was a penalty but Zaha conned the ref????, yesterday he said Zaha had dived but there was contact, he stopped short of calling him a cheat but did imply that. He thinks Zaha is a nightmare to referee because he is always going down, the best players do tend to as they get fouled a lot!?
MOTD said it was a penalty and didn’t really imply anything about Wilf diving and fair play to the Arsenal boy for saying what he said as he could have said hardly touched him etc and thrown more fuel on the fire.
